  • Looks great I'll have to give it a spin

  • Use what works best for you! I will say I love how I can customize StreetComplete so that the things I think are important can be asked first.

  • This isn't a Lemmy issue. Just write the title. Let people see if the sources are linked. People know they should watch before commenting. These are obvious things. Writing them out immediately makes me think I'm about to watch a conspiracy video.

The video is basically arguing that because you can technically control more things you can eventually make Android more secure due to freedom of choice. But most people won't do those things. And you still get Google watching. It's a dumb argument. And I say this as a big Android user.

  • None of the parenthesis parts are in the title of the video 🤦🤦‍♀️🤦‍♂️

  • If you wanted to write a title that looked like a red flag you did it!

  • It reminds me of Malcom in the Middle where Hal thinks he's supposed to speak at every funeral. No one wants him to speak so they all look over at him to see if he's going to anyway. He always takes it as a sign they they want him to speak. 😂

  • That sounds horrible but in good news this was probably the funniest story I've heard on Lemmy so far

  • Mr Free Speech Absolutist

Except when it is about me

Except when it is from a competitor

Except when I don't like it

  • I got you. I can take their word for it that the disc is perfect but they can't take mine. Makes sense.

  • Looking at the disc doesn't always show damage.

Would GameStop take open box as a new return? No. So they shouldn't see it as new.

  • As a consumer I can verify the car is running, the interior still looks fresh, there are no dings, the engine isn't missing hoses, etc. I can't verify the disc hasn't been scratched lightly until I know the disc reads.

  • Yes we do. New to me is unopened..if you took the plastic off I'm not paying.new. GameStop wouldn't take this game back as new either.

  • My mistake I thought they had used it in the kiosk. My point still stands though that someone else opened it, touched it, and I have no way of verifying it's integrity until I get home. That's used.

  • My mistake about your post. But they will sometimes use a disc in the in store kiosk and then sell that as used if it's the last disc available. At least they used to.

  • I hate that they do this. You opened it, you touched the disc, the disc was run in a system. That's not new, that's not unused. GameStop should have never done this in the first place, and I can't believe they still do it.

  • This feels like it was written by someone who hasn't done sysadmin of a Windows network in a long time. Everything is online and is almost always one click now. Provisioning, removing permissions, updating email filters, adding users. Each item is so much easier now than it used to be. I loving running my PopOs install but let's not pretend that SysAdmin is the 90s nightmare it once was.

  • Very true. Also the degradation due to installed programs hasn't been a thing for some time. Even if something does happen you can refresh without losing any data very easily these days.

  • Right

    Jump
  • that hinged on the past-tense of “to run” being “ron” instead of “ran,” would that even qualify as a joke?

Yes. There are jokes like this all over the place. Example: Job -> Has Job, Jobn't -> Doesn't have Job. This is the exact same style. You just want to be pedantic.

  • This instance doesn't support it. So even if your client has it it won't do anything.

  • Yeah we really need a downvote button, at least on the posts themselves.
