  • I once pissed off the owner of a bar who was being a dick to my friend who worked there by playing "Hammer Smashed Face" by Cannibal Corpse 5 times in a row. It's really heavy death metal and was abrasive to most of his customers.

  • I had a similar experience. I don't even remember the sub, but I was banned so I asked why I was banned. Site banned for mod harassment for asking a question. Sucks for them cuz they banned a bunch of bot accounts that I ran as well. This was pre API changes so they still provided value.

A few mods reached out to ask if they could have the bot code but I was like, fuck Reddit lol.

  • It's a balance right? Like throwing pizza at a teacher should absolutely get you detention or suspension or something. But also you're talking about 13 year old kids who are just gonna be little shits so they deserve some leeway. I don't think alternative school for the rest of the year is the right solution.

I went to alternative school for a couple weeks after getting in a fight at school. I honestly think it was one of the worse experiences in my life. Being screamed at constantly, no real learning, being made to do pushups and laps constantly. It was more akin to what you see in bootcamps in movies.

  • My algebra teacher had anger issues. One day, my friend and I threw a bunch of sharpened pencils into the drop ceiling tiles. When he noticed it, he threw his planner at me. It was hard plastic and he narrowly missed hitting me in the face. The school did nothing about it.

One day when he was the lunch monitor, someone hit him in the face with a slice of pizza. He slammed his hand on one of the tables so hard while screaming at us, that he broke his wrist. So that was pretty funny

  • I was waiting to hear back about a job then and answered a poll call about gambling. I very, very rarely gamble. And when I do it's like $50 on blackjack or something cuz my friends want to go to the casino here. That was a fun call cuz my answers were like "never", *rarely", "no". Lol

Dunno why I felt the need to share. I'm still drunk from my friends birthday party last night I think lol

  • Drive encryption doesn't really matter to malware, since the disk must be decrypted to function when turned on. Also the majority of malware still runs in userland, maybe arguably more since the rise of ransomware.

I'm not sure what you mean by permissions being limited to the Microsoft store exactly, but there's a very robust permissions system built into Windows by default. It's just not very user friendly, and your average user wouldn't know it exists probably.

There's arguments on both sides about default security policies anyway, as I've found navigating osx systems to install software can often be a nightmare - but that could be due to my lack of experience with it directly.

Both systems have pros and cons from a security standpoint. In the corporate spaces I've worked in, osx security is more annoying to manage from a central point than Windows.

  • The thing is that Windows is still more used than osx. So naturally it's going to be targeted more. Especially since more businesses use Windows than osx too.

I've come across Linux malware in my time in cyber Sec. If it exists, it'll have malware.

  • That's an interesting point. I think that maybe customer facing apps have an issue acquiring or retaining talent because the jobs often suck so badly. I've only done one customer facing software job and it was awful. Long hours, insane demands, and harsh management.

It's less bad in corporate environments surprisingly.
