Where is the best federated place to post content in github but social type of topic/research/project with ongoing updates, and where it may be discoverable by others (without a self hosted website)?

  • Shrek - OPNSense, because it (firewall) guards my swamp.

    Dragon - NAS, because of a dragons hoard.

    Donkey - Proxmox, I use this for a few VMs and docker containers. It stores my DNS, donkey was annoying, and there is nothing more annoying than your DNS going down.

    Fiona - Backup NAS - less big, only stores important backups.

  • I get that. It's the only subscription that I pay for. But, I don't really watch TV/movies/sports. Every night, when I lay in bed the first thing I do is open YouTube on my TV. Everyone has a preference.

  • Do you actually know that? I would bet that the cost of hosting the damn near infinite amount of content on YouTube would probably actually outweigh the amount they make on ads. At least if every other platform is to go off of.

  • They pay content creators more than any other platform to my understanding. I think the exception is kik (kick?) The streaming platform.

  • Yeah, that's going to come completely down to the containers you're running and the people who designed them. If the container is built on Alpine Linux, you can pretty much trust that it's going to have barely any overhead. But if a container is built on an Ubuntu Docker image. It will have a bunch of services that probably aren't needed in a typical docker container.
