  • What's the point? Even if we reach a deal, it's not like Trump is stable or trustworthy enough to honour it.

We MUST keep our threats in place for at least 30 days after Trump's last threat, or else this off-and-on bullshit will just continue indefinitely. And we should extend that delay every time Trump plays his games.

  • Donald was featured on episode 98 of The War On Cars podcast, and it's worth a listen.

And the concept of "free parking" during holidays is awful, and I love the idea of still charging for parking on holidays, but using the revenue to help the homeless or other disadvantaged local groups in the community.

  • I believe it’s only done to blame others, if there’ll be a democratic government in the next decade they’ll point and jeer “Look at how many pandemic, medical and environmental deaths there are now, while under maga we had none!”

It's more insidious than that. Imagine the next democratic government inheriting this mess. They re-open science, education, and oversight departments, who discover shock that things are really bad. MAGA will say, "See, things are bad under YOUR leadership! Can't blame us!".

  • Closing your eyes and ignoring a problem like it doesn't exist is something that children, and Republicans, seem to do an awful lot!

Can't have hurricanes if you aren't monitoring them!

Can't have COVID deaths if you stop counting!

Can't have Government corruption if you terminate any oversight!

  • According to this legal site, mishandling of a corpse gets you a lot more than 5 weeks, with mention of funeral homes and hospitals:

The penalties for these crimes vary significantly by jurisdiction. Some states classify abuse of a corpse as a misdemeanor, which may result in fines and a jail sentence of up to one year. More serious acts can be charged as a felony, carrying stiffer penalties, including several years in prison and fines that can reach $10,000 or more.

  • It's the maximum possible sentence. The court can't do more.

So, if they tried this as 190 individual cases, he'd only get a 5 weeks each? The courts really needed to do more.

Also, this is just the sentence for COVID aid fraud. Sentencing for the corpse abuse charges is scheduled for August.

I reread the article multiple times, and 20 years is the maximum for everything, including defrauding the government, to be confirmed in August.

  • Just over 1 month prison for each family defrauded, including the body of their loved one discarded like trash.

If he did this to just one family, would he have only gotten a month?

The court has disrespected these families worse than he did.

  • "The best" by what metric?

They aren't better in any metric when compared to developed countries: not happiness, not prosperity, not education, not healthcare, not rights and freedoms, not democracy, not science, not crime rate... 🥱

  • We can't do "business" with an unstable idiot.

It's best we ignore him, and keep working with countries who aren't lead by a total shit stain.

As an individual, I'm happy continuing to rapidly cull any American ties I have with brands and services.
