  • Our local news outlet is FULL of sponsored articles from casinos. It's gross and turns me off from their platform.

If you've got to use ads and sponsored posts, at least feature wholesome local businesses.

  • Incredible... first there's an Epstein file with Trump's name on it, then there's no Epstein file, then there is and can destroy lives.

So, 100% he's on it. And I'm sure a lot of his current associates are on it, too.

That said, not only should the release of the file be made public and lives be ruined, but justice must also be swift and harsh for the pedos and the people who stayed hush for pedos.

  • Frustratingly, this is how corporations do business just about anywhere in the world. Why bother subsidizing at all? Either make it publicly owned or tell them that they are on their own. Viable businesses will succeed without handouts.

  • Just like provinces and municipalities.

"No money for education, healthcare, or bike lanes."

Also, "We're spending countless tens of millions to widen a road so that people can sit in traffic for 30 seconds less than before while making it less safe for all other road users! Vote for us again, plz."

  • Search speed was never an issue before, and neither was quality. My biggest gripe is not being able to sort search by date! If I had that, it would be perfect.

But I'll update you once it's done (at 97,000 to go... )

  • You'd be permanently destroying that land, and any waterways in the area, so is that really a solution?

And if the land isn't already fertile, you need to set up alternative land to grow the food for those cows... then import the water...

This is not sustainable, and should be discouraged.

  • I decided on the ViT-B-16-SigLIP2__webli model, so switched to that last night. I also needed to update my server to the latest version of Immich, so a new smart search job was run late last night.

Out of 140,000+ photos/videos, it's down to 104,000 and I have it set to 6 concurrent tasks.

I don't mind it processing for 24h. I believe when I first set immich up, the smart search took many days. I'm still able to use the app and website to navigate and search without any delays.

  • That's like saying "it's more ethical if Nazis killed only adults, because they take up more space than kids in a gas chamber."

The needless suffering and killing of any animal is horrifically unethical, and if we can, we should actively stop participating in it.

There are a ton of mental gymnastics used to justify the consumption of animals. Almost none apply to modern civilization.

  • You can never make animal production green. The amount of clear-cutting needed for beef as an example would blow your mind. Then you factor in the ground, air, and water pollution from these factory farms, and you've just fucked up into entire regions, just to sustain a food source that isn't even needed.

  • That’s a Celeron right?

Yup, the Intel J4125 Celeron 4-Core CPU, 2.0-2.7Ghz.

I switched to the ViT-SO400M-16-SigLIP2-384__webli model, same as what you use. I don't worry about processing time, but it looks like a more capable model, and I really only use immich for contextual search anyway, so that might be a nice upgrade.

  • What province?

Ontario, which allows them under a pilot project for any municipalities who participate. In my case, I believe all of Durham Region allows them.

Honestly, people should care less about e-scooters and more about the cars who are actually killing people. And the gas powered MOTORCYCLES on pedestrian and cycle trails.

Edit: I was using my e-scooter(s) before the Region participated in the pilot, and was never harassed about it. I also don't ride like a jackass, so there wouldn't have been anything for anyone to complain about.

  • With the exception of budgies, which might only live maybe 10 years, most pet birds easily live as long as cats and much longer than dogs, too.

So I'm not sure what the author is talking about, and I still stand my point about birds at night.
