  • Yeah I'm inclined to believe it based on the actions of numerous other police departments, but I'm also highly skeptical of it because of things like his message about if they find him dead naming not only the Fresno Sheriff but also his neighbor and a coworker. If I came across this on Facebook I for sure would write this guy off.

I do find it odd they ruled his death a suicide but then stated that he had three separate stab wounds to the chest. I have a hard time believing that someone could do that to themselves a second or third time, but who knows.

  • I don't think the smoke detector comparison is entirely valid as smoke and fire don't make audible noise in the range of 150dB. Funnily enough smoke detectors only emit 85dB which is 65 times quieter than a gun shot (decibels are logarithmic).

  • “Now, the most important thing is to make China pay for unleashing a plague on the world,” Mr Cotton, a Republican from Arkansas, said in a statement.

What plague? I thought the whole thing was made up to "control us" and everyone died of the flu.

  • You sure? It sure seems like your first thought here is "how can I rub this in the faces of those i feel like blaming for this" judging by your comment. You seem to want to retroactively remove Biden and Harris' culpability in bringing us to this point.

  • These people downvoting are the same people who said the genocide in Gaza wasn't something to concern ourselves with since both candidates supported it anyway. How quickly the tune changes once they can use it to act self-righteous while whitewashing the past.

  • At least with my house, all the coax comes out to a central location outside where they connect to a splitter that then connects to the incoming feed from the cable company. If you don't have cable or broadband internet, you can just disconnect the external feed to bypass this issue. Apart from initial installation or a service call, they're unlikely to ever touch this again as they don't need to physically come out to cut your service on their end even though your coax is still connected physically.

  • I didn't say that. You can keep your strawman, thanks.

You did right here while implying that Democrats are the ones with legitimate solutions that people are just too dumb to understand. Unsurprisingly, you couldn't list any examples of Democratic policy that fits with anything you've said in this entire chain of comments.

People love simple answers to problems. Unfortunately, the problems we're facing are incredibly complex and don't have simple realistic answers. Simply looking solutions have complicated consequences that aren't immediately obvious. The average American (that doesn't hold post-secondary education) typically doesn't understand this. So when a problem is explained and a solution that addresses it is presented, it usually leaves them confused.

  • I think they meant explain the root issue like "I want automation X to trigger if I'm at my cool neighbor's houses but not if I'm at my lame neighbor's houses" rather than focusing on your specific train of thought on how to solve said issue.

  • After running DDWRT for years on my old router, I completely agree with this. The worst was googling tutorials to do something on the router and everything always referencing OpenWRT.
