  • Imagine you owned a library. That library is in principle open, anyone can go in and read books, browse the web, wank in the toilets, etc. It’s a good place and it takes you some doing to keep it so.

Now imagine a bus full of book-hating pyromaniacs parks outside (in this metaphor, there is such a thing as book-specific pyromaniacs, just for the sake of illustration).

Surely you’d hang up a “no pyromaniacs” sign?

  • Wow that’s such a strange thing to get hung up on, hahaha

Honest question, do you just dislike hyperbole in general? If you’re reading a book and it reads something like ‘she felt tiny next to him, as if he could pick her up and throw her across the ship’, do you also dislike it?

Because in general anime uses that effect to convey feelings, which are hard to convey without making the characters spill out entire essays on their innermost demons, which in turn is boring as fuck.

  • There’s an in between. Have the LLM map into predefined responses, thus leveraging the LLM’s insane parsing abilities with the linearity of tree-like structures.

It can be done, and can be done intelligently.

Which I somewhat doubt was the case here.

  • I know this is a shit answer, but whenever I dive into a new book that I suspect will have loads of characters (looking at you fantasy epics), I tend to either highlight the first time a character comes along (if reading on the iPad) or takes notes myself.

  • That’s an interesting perspective. I find caffeine really useful, as I use it as pre-workout in the morning (I train strength most days of the week around 7am).

I stay away from it otherwise, though, mostly for the reasons you cite. Don’t want to be overly dependent on it.

  • Also PC companies are getting greedy as fuck and charging Apple prices while not delivering an Apple experience.

Sent from my iPhone, which I bought because Samsung decided to double their prices between the S9 and the S23, all the while expecting me to put up with the train wreck that is the Android app ecosystem.

  • Aaaaww I love the aeropress. I was more of a moka pot person but then I got an aeropress and now it’s my favourite thing.

I find myself taking it with me on holidays, even.
