  • Honestly, blacksmithing isn't that hard. And the video in the article looks like it was cold sheet steel work over a form and a few rivets, so a few hours' work for a beginner. Even basic forge work is something you can learn in an afternoon.

  • Yeah. I've definitely gotten refunds past those limits. But I've had a Steam account for like 16 years at this point, lots of games, and I've requested a refund maybe twice.

  • If you have a bunch of nodes, what do you need redundant NICs for? The other nodes should pick up the slack.

It's unlikely for the NIC or cable to suddenly go bad. If you only have one switch, you're not protected against its failure, either.

  • Yeah, I had pretty good sex ed, and it was just that, sex ed. Body parts, consent, having babies, not having babies, not getting STDs. Nothing about relationships, straight or otherwise. Should kids be taught about healthy relationships, and how to get help if you're in an unhealthy one? Yes. Should it be part of sex ed? I don't think so.

Maybe we should just have a remedial "things your parents should have taught you" class for stuff like that.

  • They don't die any more suddenly than a spinning drive, but they do have limited lifespans. Use SMART tools to check the lifespan data. And check for firmware updates since sometimes there are bugs that can cause them to wear out quickly.

But really the important thing is having backups, which you said you have.

  • They're pretty lenient with refunds past two hours' playtime, if it's not that much more and you don't have a history of requesting refunds. I've been refunded for games after like four hours, but I've also only done maybe two refunds tops.

  • If the automatic refund was rejected, you can ask for a manual review.

But if you've really started that many runs, and put in enough hours to get that far, don't be surprised if they deny a refund. You've already experienced most of the game. It's like going to a restaurant, tasting your meal, saying it's horrible, then continuing to eat it.

  • At some point the cost of replacing elements is going to exceed the cost of a new oven. You could stock up on elements if you can find any.

I don't think I've ever had an element break on me, though, even on decades-old ovens. You might want to check the power to the oven and element just to make sure you're not over-volting it or something.
