This right here is the main reason why Trump might succeed... The media has been beaten into submission and refuses to report the actual events that are occurring which make Trump look bad.

If your card has an x4 pinout, then it probably needs the additional bandwidth. Plugging it into an x1 slot (if it was possible) would slow down the network traffic. Get a better motherboard with an x4 slot on it so you can use the hardware you want. or find something else that will fit your computer.

Honestly even the 1Gb quad port card I have requires an x4 slot, although I saw some dual-port 2.5Gb x1 cards on ebay. Maybe you could just use two of those?

Coming up on 57 here, but come on... if your job is politics, how can you not keep up with what's happening and how things are being done? I'm a computer nerd and I still feel like I know more about what's at stake with this vote than Schumer does.

And to absolutely nobody's surprise, Twitter was NOT asked to testify about their long and proven censorship of content when Trump or Musk are called out for direct lies in favor of the Trump campaign, and hiding content in favor of Biden/Harris. Yeah it has us old Democrats fuming as well. I saw a poll posted yesterday regarding who was to blame is the gov shut down this weekend... it showed 32% blamed Trump, 32% blamed Republicans, and 33% blamed Democrats. Fuck it, I like those odds. Shut the whole thing down and let the majority of the US put the blame where it is due (Trump/GOP). The Senators could have stood their ground to fight for something, anything, but no, they had to weasel out. I'm happy to see both of my Senators have already publicly stated they would vote no (both on cloture and the CR), but it only takes 7 Dems to screw up the whole thing and we already know several of them will.

Are you trying to suggest that Ukrainians are extremists here? I mean seriously, what makes you think the country has the internet bandwidth to compete with what Twitter has available? For that matter, what makes you think they would have TIME for such things when Trump's master is dropping bombs on them?

Even the older versions work pretty well, depending on the features you need. I use it for all my 3D modeling, I could never get the hang of other CAD software but this one just "makes sense" to me. I even used it last year to create a model of a trailer I wanted to build, worked out the finer details of how everything would fit together and some options like adding ramps, and once we got to the point of building the trailer it was just a matter of copying the dimensions and cutting out all the steel.

And as usual, they always have to bury something in it that will directly hurt people.

Funny thing, I just looked this up this morning. Texas is actually 47% Democrat and 38% Republican, but their gerrymandering is controlled by the GOP and drawn to hugely suppress the Dem vote. They are basically the poster child for suppressing the will of the voters.

Especially when said government is actively firing the people who reported the fraud and waste? Or maybe you're thinking about the government who classified tracking active deadly diseases as fraud and is preventing people from getting protection against such things as the flu? Oh wait, I bet it's the government who is gutting the life-saving weather prediction services that helps guide most of the farmers and fishermen while protecting human lives from deadly storms.

Yeah? OK well it's certainly worth taking a closer look at, and I was also doing some reading on Yacy. I've run one in the past called mnogosearch, with a lot of customization, but it would be nice to get into a community project like this.

But is it decentralized? Do the results from multiple spiders get added to give everyone the same quality searches or do I need to scan the whole internet myself?

Yep, that's exactly what I was looking at (https://github.com/searx/searx). As I said, it was a QUICK dive but the wording was enough to make me shy away from it. For all the years I've been running servers, I won't put up anything that requires the latest/greatest of any code because that's where about 90% of the zero-days seem to come from. Almost all the big ones I've seen in the last few years where things that made me panic until I realized that oh, if your updates are more than a year old then none of this affects you. And the one that DID affect me had already been updated through a security release.

Right? I mean I'm still lamenting the loss of slider keyboards, typing on a screen is so damn unreliable that I was forced to turn on the auto-correction, which itself is highly unreliable and constantly changing real words while failing to fix the words where I hit a number instead of a letter (the word "9f" gets typed a LOT!). I use my phone for phone calls and sending texts, with a secondary usage as a GPS in my truck. If it can't perform one of three basic tasks then what good is it?

I just did a quick dive into this and have some concerns. SearX appears to no longer be maintained and was last updated three years ago. SearXNG was forked to use more recent libraries but there were concerns that those are not always stable or fully vetted. There were also concerns that SearXNG did not follow the same concerns for user privacy. It's a shame that SearX shut down, that one actually sounds like a project I would have jumped on.

I upgraded to a Sony Xperia XZ2 compact last year. It has a 5" screen and decent capabilities, the only down side is it doesn't support 5G. For a phone that's over 5 years old, it's probably the most recent usable phone available which actually fits in my pocket.

Seriously, don't show me a damn tablet computer and try to sell it to me as a mobile phone. If you can't make a compact phone then you're not really advancing the technology, are you?

I've have long hair for about 35 years now. I guess mine is wavy too (?) although when it's humid I'll get some tight pipe curls. Just tie it back out of the way. Best hair bands I've found are made of pantyhose material, they don't snag or wrap up in your hair. They do come in different sizes so if you have thick hair you can get a larger band.

Regardless, no matter what you do you'll always eventually get some hair in your food.
