  • Honestly, the main reason I don't believe in God is because I can't believe any all-powerful, just and benevolent God would allow things like this to be said in their name without any push back.

Yep. I'll believe in God when he starts smiting Philistines again.

  • How does that change what he did?

What was done after the incident to rectify the situation is some pretty important context. You should be doing your best to give the whole story when offering your viewpoint on it. What value is getting people to agree with you when the information you've shared has details removed?

  • Narrator : A new car built by my company leaves somewhere traveling at 60 mph. The rear differential locks up. The car crashes and burns with everyone trapped inside. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one.

Woman on Plane : Are there a lot of these kinds of accidents?

    Narrator : You wouldn't believe.

Woman on Plane : Which car company do you work for?

    Narrator : A major one.

    Fight Club

  • I just imagined a world where for 10 years I told my child I loved them and then for them to within less than a year, stop responding and then actively shame you for doing so.

Whenever I hear a single-sentence story about how a parent did nothing but love their child and the child decided to drop contact out of nowhere, I always wonder what context has been withheld.

    The Missing Missing Reasons

  • I played in a FFG Star Wars group for a few months and it really was so freaking unintuitive the symbols and colors that they used. It felt like they wanted to simplify things but instead you had to keep track of green, yellow, purple, red, black, blue dice and like 5 or 6 different possible roll outcomes, you have to remember which symbol cancels which and also keep track of which skills are adding or subtracting dice...it really made me miss the simplicity of a D20.
