  • Shopping is so depressing and stressful now. You can't flag down employees to ask a question anymore, everybody has been handed the work of 1.5 people on a good day. These employees are spread so thin and it's impossible not to notice.

  • Which boils down to: people want to be able to plug something in without thorough inspection.

An easy, cheap solution they could have popularized from the start would be to print something like an arrow on both the port and plug to line up visually.

  • Fact Check-Majority of US mass shooters are cis men, not transgender or non-binary people

The Gun Violence Archive, which began collecting data on gun violence in the U.S. in 2013 (here), (here), recorded more than 4,400 mass shootings in the last decade, Executive Director Mark Bryant told Reuters via email. Its definition of mass shooting is four or more people shot resulting in injury or death (excluding the perpetrator).

Of those, “the number of known suspects in mass shootings which are trans is under 10 for the last decade,” which translated to “1:880 [or 0.11%] of the 4,400 shootings” they recorded, he said.

  • Reminds me of a video where a drunk girl is eating insulation to be funny and her friend immediately makes her spit it out. Could not imagine how their mouth felt the next day.

  • Per the article:

As part of his social-media postings, Galanakis made several statements, alleging he “basically got kidnapped then raped by the NPD all night,” and falsely indicating Winters had been “convicted” of domestic abuse for beating up a girlfriend.

I'm not on the side of the police but it's hard to deny there is a basis for a legal case here.

  • I’ve had so many more meaningful and fulfilling conversations here on Lemmy than I ever did on Reddit in the 10 years I was there.

For one thing, it feels there is so much stronger of a push here to read the article instead of just the headline. Especially appreciated when someone adds the article to the post or leaves it in a comment. TLDR bot isn't for me but it helps.

There's also so much less of a push to be that meme comment that hits the top. There are still jokes but it's not this barrage of people trying to be the class clown at the expense of meaningful conversation.

But especially the bots. Holy crap the bots were making it such a headache. The same comment slightly adjusted then posted over and over as replies to top comments for karma farming. The same stolen repost on 20 slightly similar subreddits and it doesn't really belong on half of them. Not that Lemmy would be immune to this if it were as big as Reddit but sheesh I wish Reddit cared about the quality of content. They're fine with whatever keeps people coming back and I guess that kind of content appeals to the most people.

  • We are talking about a living wage. As in, working a job gives you enough money to survive. Are things really that fucked up that people making enough to live off of would wreck the economy? Let it burn, then.

  • The doctor that performed the TL asked her about it in his opening small talk, "but you're so young!" then he opened her file, started reading, and apologized.

Way out of line. He was probably about to ask what her husband would think.

  • Depression is generally linked to low dopamine/serotonin levels or poor ability to absorb them. An orgasm is one of the few reliable ways to get the feel-good chemicals you're lacking. That and food.
