  • I absolutely LOVE the original Subnautica, but was frustrated with Below Zero. I've posted multiple rants about it on Lemmy before.

Already skeptical about this game because it looks like it has

    .

A big appeal of the first game was the isolation you felt, and the struggle to find life and accomplish gargantuan tasks.

    Cautiously optimistic for this installment.

Please don't have any characters yap & quip throughout this one, god, please!

  • I was not at all trying to be snarky in any possible way. I guess I should have been more clear in saying what I really meant: women would probably understand this more clearly than others. My apologies if I seemed like I was trying to upset you in anyway. Tone is weird through text.

    But here's the confirmation: https://feddit.uk/comment/12718867

  • Considering the specific context, that's what makes it very not-so-ambiguous.

And I'm sure folks that identify a specific way would also agree.

Plus, the OP confirmed it. 🕵️‍♂️🕵️‍♀️

  • The reason for the common cold being so prevalent in cold weather is because of the cold.

My theory is that cold temperatures best suit the incubation of the germs. You are especially susceptible at night, when you can't control your breath enough to keep your nose/nostrils warm. Warm face/nose at night = you won't catch a cold.

I'm absolutely convinced of this theory. I've tested ways to keep my face/nose warm at night, and it seems to test very solidly (and I get sick very very easily). Once my room gets too chilly, I'll inevitably wake up with a cold.

EDIT: let me have the smallest conspiracy theory in the world, thank you.

  • My guy. My dude. My man.

Do you know what a tampon is / does? You might be able to infer from that alone.

  • Hey. I understand that maybe you're unaware of the nuance behind this. Almost all massive producers of chocolate rely of human exploitation and slavery to get their chocolate. Many "workers" are also young children. People need to know this.

I know that it seems like people might just be out to "spoil the fun", but the more you know about a product and how it is produced, you can make decisions about your consumption.

I've made decisions like purchasing the majority of my clothing secondhand, avoiding N×stlè products, cutting much of my meat consumption, etc. because I'm faced with the reality that my choices affect the lives around me, even if I do not see the impact directly.

It's upsetting to hear about the reality of things like this, but it's very very important to be informed. I do not want to simply consume a product if I know that it is actively harming lives and/or contributing to human suffering. If that means avoiding certain chocolate bars, so be it. I hope that someone would do the same for me, too, if I were in such a position.

  • Thank you.

A big part of why I have severe anxiety to this day is because I was exposed to traumatic things far too young/quickly. I was pushed into situations where I was not ready or emotionally/mentally equipped to handle. Constantly.

Exposure is only good if a person is ready for it. Desensitization is only helpful when you are equipped to handle such a thing.

I had an ex who would say that we were doing one thing, then take me to do something completely different, then boast that he was "helping me", which only heightened my fears in the end. As a foil to that, I had an ex after that who was encouraging and supportive and kind, and gently led me into the same situations, where I knew what I was getting into. Guess how which one had me overcoming my fears?

Exposure works best if you are prepared for the exposure and have the support you need in those kind of situations.

I am always thankful for trigger warnings.

  • The constant "do stuff!!!"-push combined with the actual insane pricing of the experience, making it so that people feel the need to get all the worth they can from it, gave Jenny an anxiety attack, which she notes that she has never experienced before or since.

    That's fucking wild.
