  • Don't forget:

Those politicians who are in a position to pass laws with regards to my taxes, income level, and other means of hoarding power? Oh, they're owned by me thanks to legal bribery.

And those other politicians who want to introduce a maximum wage, higher taxes, or anything remotely socialist? Oh, the media outlet/s I own, along with the politicians I've already paid off can easily smear them out of contention.

Both possible because the system is what it does and is designed to encourage these kinds of disparity and inequality, not combat it.

  • They forgot they are civil servants and are being trained on a warrior mentality.

No, you've forgotten that the police are the armed defenders of capital and the state, and they do not exist to serve you, never have, never will. And that this is valid for every state, not just the united ones of America (of course gun culture and generally being ahead in the race towards fascism makes America worse than many, I'm not denying that, my point is that the police as a concept exist to supress and oppress civilians in defence of capital and the state).

  • Most police forces in the US were infiltrated created by fascist white supremacists long ago.

Not trying to be pedantic, I just think it's really important to remember that that's what the police have always been for.

  • I think that stuff (those in power manipulating public opinion for their own ends by whatever means necessary) has always happened, but the access to and use of technology has definitely upped the game significantly, so yeah, I agree.

Edit to add: I watched it for the first time in my teens, and I think it had a deep impact on how I view politics and the media, and the relationship between them.

  • and it certainly isn’t supporting the concept of a rich and ruling class.

It certainly is. There shouldn't be any people who have that much more than everyone else that a tax bracket that high should even exist. To get to that point you have had to be exploiting others, and allowing them to continue to exploit society and have vastly more power than anyone else, as long as they pay back some (even 90%, that still leaves the likes of Musk and Bezos billionaires) is still maintaining the status quo, no matter how socialist it makes you feel (90% tax isn't socialism, workers owning the means of production is, which leaves no room for such disparity). So feel free to ask yourself that same question I asked above.

E: as for feudalism, that's all capitalism is - feudalism with extra steps. You having been indoctrinated to believe there needs to be a ruling class doesn't mean that's true.

  • Lmfao, looking back longingly at feudalism (with a stop over in the cold war era? Because that was such a prosperous time for so many in society /s) I'm guessing isn't making the point you think it is. You're literally arguing in favour of maintaining a disparity. The size of isn't the point, it's existence in the first place is.

Maybe have a think with yourself about why you're so attached to the idea of there being a rich and ruling class at all, whose graces and willingness to pay back a tiny percentage of the money they extracted by exploitation society should depend on..

  • For what it's worth, you're spot on and I gave you my upvote lol

But yeah, the resistance to the truth in favour of temporary comfort is quite scary to watch as it unfolds live in front of our eyes, but that just means we have to say it louder.

  • If you see these numbers and still think tax is the solution, you're not paying enough attention.

A system is what it does. Our system created this disparity, and will continue to allow it to grow as long as it exists. Any solutions within the acceptable limits said system has set out will never stop it, only placate the masses enough to stop us from tearing it down.

  • He's a self serving neoliberal who doesn't give two fucks about the working class.

He has made it clear all along that he is nothing but a corporate and establishment shill, and while making this one accidentally accurate statement about landlords, his party is planning to, for example, go ahead with pretty much the exact same cuts and abuses (E: like the government having unlimited access to the bank accounts of all benefits claimants) that the Tories had planned for the poorest in society, along with trying to force as many sick and disabled people in to work as they can (without providing any more support or income to help this happen of course, just more punishment for those who can't "refuse"). Landlords will not be getting any of the same treatment.

His statement doesn't reflect any moral leanings, nor a will or intent to change anything for the better.
