As Labour touts more brutal cuts to benefits, how is this different from life under the Tories?
It isn't, just like we said it wouldn't be before the election, when the cultists refused to listen.
Keith and his cronies are nothing but establishment serving placeholders and future scapegoats for the right to blame for all the ills of society and come back in stronger and more fascist than ever. And when that happens, the cultists will act all surprised and bewildered again because they simply refuse to hear anything that contradicts their deep indoctrination in to passive compliance with the rules.
As for
There may be no nasty impulse to punish ‘skivers’
If you genuinely believe that, you're not been paying any attention, or are completely oblivious to the masses of ableist and classist dog whistles they've been using all along.
Is it really a wonder why we get so much more frustrated with liberals who insist on playing along and cooperating with the system, insisting they care about society and its most vulnerable (to stroke their own egos) while refusing to listen to our warnings (again, to stroke their own egos, after all, they still see us as beneath them), than we are with those who are at least honest about throwing us under the bus? Once again MLK's quote about white moderates being a bigger barrier to equity than the KKK are proves its depressing accuracy.
You do realise that many people (significantly more since covid in fact) are on benefits because we can't work, right? And it's those benefits (disability, employment support) that are getting the worst cuts.
So you're not technically wrong, but your solution also doesn't help those of us most targeted.
The idea that someone just stumbles their way in to a presidency is wild. It's also ableist to blame his bigotry and oppressive actions on how intelligent you think he is, that has nothing to do with it.
So I'll reiterate - the fact that anyone can still think that what's happening is accidental or not thought out is frankly more than concerning, it's scary.
These people are following a playbook, they've got their own playbook for fucks sake, and they will do as much damage as they fucking can deliberately and with forethought. Pretending otherwise because it's easier to punch down and dismiss him as "dumb" than to confront the reality of things and punch up at a much bigger and scarier target is counterproductive.
Trump – too dumb to know that water doesn’t flow uphill.
The fact that people still think he doesn't know what he's doing (or his advisers, anyway) is concerning. None of this is accidental, it is all about manipulation of the food supply and economy, and deliberately worsening living conditions for most people to make us even easier to exploit and oppress.
Yup, and in his specific case not just for profit, but for a place at the "big boys table" along with who I can only assume are his idols, musk and zuc.
Oh, I get it, I just think it plays in to their rhetoric more than it contradicts it.
They're grasping at any and every "he's not a nazi" straw they can find or make up, this just gives them another one to grasp to, because they wouldn't see or care about your intent, all they see is someone deliberately avoiding directly saying "musk is a nazi" or "what makes him a nazi is..", which is exactly their tactic and feeds in to their cognitive dissonance.
You're giving him the degree of separation they're looking for, which he does not deserve.
So again, I understand what you're trying to do, but I think that not explicitly saying "musk is a nazi because..." is counterproductive.
Yeah, I get where you're coming from, and I like your design (though agree it could be a little easier to read) but feel like this is playing in to the "he's not a nazi" narrative his supporters are trying to push, when he is in fact, a nazi, as well as a regime enabling industrialist. The two aren't mutually exclusive, and we should be calling the nazi spade a nazi spade at every opportunity.
I've had pirated copies on every pc I've owned for a couple of decades, "long gone" lmao
Fuck EA, they ain't seeing a penny from me, and I definitely won't be engaging in any "ports" that probably exist to scrape my data and charge me more money lol
Oh yeah, they wouldn't have scrapped it unless it was damaging them somehow (like you say, or possibly by being so transparent they couldn't even muster any plausible deniability), rather than benefits claimants, as intended.
Thank fuck for miniature, and no doubt temporary, fucking mercies.
The human-run system is already designed to reject as many claims as possible and make it as absolutely difficult as possible for those they don't flat out reject to get even the lowest rate (again, the default, which, like a rejection, you then have to appeal to get what you're really entitled to), yet somehow AI would have managed to make it worse.
Don't think for a second this'll stop them from trying again, or making the existing system worse still in other ways.
After all, we are the real leeches on the government tax pot that they need to eliminate, not their fellow landlords and capitalists sat next to them on the parliament bench. 🙄
E: I even said how I can see it being useful in some applications, but fuck, if I'm looking at the date it's almost certainly to see what day it is today, what day (and maybe month) an appointment is, what day some food is going off, stuff like that. I know what month and year it is right now, and if I want to know the time, I look at a clock, not a calendar. If they love extra and often unnecessary information so much they're free to use whatever format they want, but I'm good, and so are many others, and they just need to learn to be ok with that lmao
So it's just adding the American format (which categorically does not demonstrate how a month and day can still be conveyed in order of significance, but literally the opposite) in to the mix and not providing any help or making things any simpler lol
Thanks for explaining, but if the person who introduced the 1-26 concept in to the conversation (and could have easily just said "MM/DD" to make their point significantly clearer), or the other person with their lecture are actually trying to change my, or anyone else's mind, or make theirpersonal preference more appealing to others, this (making things more complicated, when they are already perfectly straightforward, just not how they like it) isn't the fucking way to do it lmmfao
don’t argue for your point with arguments that can easily be debunked.
I literally said I don't know what a thing means (and now that you've explained, it's a useless instruction to give me, since all it does is add extra steps for those of us already perfectly happy with the European format lmfao), and made no assertion beyond my personal preference, kindly get off your fucking high horse.
I sure am grateful for how easy it is to avoid porn on lemmy, may that continue to be the case with the certain upcoming influx of it.
