Tech bros and capitalists are fundamentally uncreative and view all creativity as mish-mashing various obvious influences together in the pursuit of more money. So, when the opportunity comes in their eyes to totally invalidate a set of people who have learned a skill they do not believe exists and save money in the process, they see it as a natural development. They don't respect labor or art and are happy to replace both with any number of machines.
You can have a moral high ground either way. It would be impossible to live in such a way that you are totally free of hypocrisy and anything someone could possibly criticize you for, which is what these people are basically asking in bad faith. They are saying you would have to live an impossible life because they do not want a moral high ground to exist at all. Just because we do not always meet our ideals does not mean we cannot have ideals, or that we cannot note when those ideals have not been met in others. I have not lived a 100% violence free life, but that isn't necessary to call out something like a murder.
Pretty much anyone who isn't a fan of another World War should care. This basically will set a precedent for whether a country can just up and invade its neighbor for territorial gain, and whether the world will just stand by and watch like we did with Sudetanland.
If this ends with Russia's defeat, it could cool a lot of simmering tensions as would be belligerents realize that the world will basically throw in with the people being invaded. Or, if Russia faces no consequences, it could demonstrate that the world is truly a bunch of self-interested nation states with no motivation beyond self preservation, and we should prepare for China starting its world tour any year now.
How many societies are stringing up the owners of corporations and distributing their wealth? None, so left wing violence can't be all that common. How many societies are mistreating immigrants, destroying social safety nets, and trying to overturn democratic elections in favor of authoritarians? Plenty, so you know the right wing is alive and well.
Member Captain Pike? Member Spock? Member the Original Series? It's a new era of trek, one where we are literally afraid of moving the timeline forward and giving you anything but retreads of existing characters, hamfisted attempts to mash the JJ movies into continuity for some reason, and space Family Guy.
If they kill a Columbine -1, is that a school shooting? What if they try to massacre people but there are no fatalities, is that a school shooting? The attempt to make "school shooting" fit only the worst case scenario means we ignore a problem until it has had its absolute worst outcome.
This is a really great distinction that I feel like the right wing is incapable of understanding because everything in their world view revolves around how they feel, so they just assume everyone else is just like them that way.
Landlords sell access to an apartment or house temporarily during a specific time at inflated prices. Ticket scalpers sell access to an event venue or stadium temporarily at a specific time at inflated prices.
Hermione is constantly made fun of for being anti slavery and her movement does nothing. The whole thing is treated like a joke, a pie in the sky fancy of someone who doesn't understand how the real world works.
