  • I've never supported or mentioned PP, I'm not sure where you're drawing that from.

The dudes a career politician - that's not far from being a salesperson your whole life. It's debatable which is worse though, a career politician or a trust fund drama teacher lol

Don't resort to name calling though, makes you seem unintelligent

  • Yeah that looks like a racist ass statement from that Pat King guy for sure. I don't support that shit. But thank you for sharing (even though I was asking about Chris Barber).

The rest of that (the 2 out of touch pictures, and the dude urinating on a grave) doesn't capture the essence of what this meant for most people that supported the cause. It's like the BLM protests, a few bad actors shouldn't ruin the message for everyone.

Rachel Gillmore, who wrote that first article you posted, was laid off from global news after all that. Reasons are unclear...

But thank you again for providing sources, sincerely.

  • If you think stupidity lives only on one end of the political spectrum, you're going to be in for a bad time. Every group has their rednecks.

Willful ignorance exists heavily on both sides too. There was some willful ignorance about how effective the covid vaccine was when the government started mandating it everywhere they could.

Now that a huge portion of our population received the never-used-before (and rushed) vaccine, we know it's not that effective. Hopefully this story ends here. The fact that this became very political should've been a huge red flag to everyone.

Here's some references for you if your unsure where I'm getting this "effectiveness" data from:

    https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/natural-immunity-protective-covid-vaccine-severe-illness-rcna71027

    https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(22)02465-5/fulltext

The "medical freedom" crowd, in this instance, were ensuring the government doesn't over step, as it likes to do.

If we'd stop with this tribalistic bullshit we could hold our governments more accountable and have them be more transparent. But we're a divided mess - we won't be able to do anything good until we find our middle ground.

Once we do, then no more Trumps, no more Trudeaus, just public servants doing what public servants should.

  • In the Canadian govs eyes, he's not the leader.

Tamara and Chris are in court right now for charges about leading the convoy.

You let protestors, protest. Especially when it's not violent. The only injuries sustained in this protest were given to an old lady vs a police horse. You can't just throw the money on the street - someone has to organize it.

Why do you want the government to have so much control?

  • Tamara lich/Chris Barber are white supremacists? How'd you come to that conclusion? Or are you confusing 2 different groups?

Yes you're right about those politicians on the right trying to exclude people - the Christian nationalists in the US are horrible, so much for separation from state and church

  • You didn't see any of the SNC lavalin stuff did you?

What about his black face costume?

How about the law to make social media companies pay news outlets for having their articles shared on those platforms, then producing radio ads saying "meta and google are blocking your news!!"

How about freezing the bank accounts of nonviolent protestors and anyone who supported them

He shrugs all of that off, and goes by that narcissistic prayer. I'm not sure why anyone is defending this guy lol, is it just because he's affiliated with the liberal party?

He just recently had to pull back his over priced carbon tax because we're all too broke. This plan literally only hurts the poor classes.

god forbid we stop this left vs right nonsense and come together

  • I never said you had a problem with religious people, I said I did, but I'm saying my ignorance and trying to view things as black and white is what made me short sighted/ignorant previously. This applies to politics as well.

I'm happy to hear you would ensure everyone has a right to live.

  • 2 people who don't pay attention or don't want to pay attention to these things, would be a difficult conversation.

What about someone who's educated and pays attention to these things? If not, watch some long form videos of the other sides "talking heads" to get the gist of why they're upset about whatever issue - most people just parrot a few of these talking head people anyways. But do it with an open mind.

I'm saying this because I grew up doing something like that, scoffing at idiots following all these dogmatic religions and seeing all these rapey priests on TV. But then I met a few people who can articulate why they're religious - and it flipped my perspective about religion quite a bit. I'm still not religious, but it's much easier to understand those that are, and where they're coming from - and it's much easier to get along with a wider range of people IRL.

Most people genuinely want the best for everyone, even if the news headlines don't make it seem that way.

  • If it's that black and white, it should be easy to get everyone to vote left then, no?

What position does the other half of your country see the world in? And I don't mean your mental abstraction of what their world view is, I mean what their actual real world view is. You'd need to actually talk and listen to them to find out. Those are the people you need to connect with.

  • To be fair, the inverse is often true as well - mostly because the US is so divided in left vs right. So when the power swings to the other hand, they just spend a bunch of time un-doing what the other party did to appease their voter base. Neither party actually cares about the well being of common people. It's always just a "lesser of two evils" pick.

The only way out of this (imo) is to unite with each other, or at the very least find some common ground with each other, instead of continuing to run in this hamster wheel of left vs right tribalism.

There's a big club, and you ain't in it - George Carlin

  • I appreciate your awareness of the bias in media groups - sincerely.

I'll have to give the new legislation a read to see how loose it is before forming hard opinions on it, but I just wanted to highlight where a large cause for concern should be for topics like this.

  • It's one of those "out there" types of opinions for sure, but I can see where their sentiment is coming from.

Addiction is just such a broad sweeping term, and most often quite subjective. As well as the frame of mind that an addicted or depressed person would be in, makes it difficult to take what the patient wants at face value and to just go with it.

People are fallible, including our doctors, so we need to ensure the system is set up appropriately, with little to no room for varying interpretations.

If there's anything massive corporations have taught me, it's that vague or poorly written laws and regulatory bodies will be exploited if they can be.

  • OP said "last year" - the Canadian stats I could find were from 2016-2021, which was still 10x the amount of the alleged California stats over a longer duration.

Don't throw caution to the wind just because some people are throwing in conspiracy theories. This kind of thing absolutely needs public scrutiny and to be watched very carefully.
