  • When I was in middle school, a girl did in fact get a bug bite on her eyeball. It was blood red for a week and she couldn't see well, but long term she was fine.

  • It just goes to show that the way others see us isn't the same as how we see ourselves.

  • I highly disagree. You can't expect every comic to be top shelf, especially if you're getting it for free. OP has been improving with every post - because they're gaining experience with practice. Hiring a writer (with what money?) would undermine their own growth. You're welcome to read more polished comics (like The Weekly Roll), but remember that people dont magically spring up with skill in art and writing right out of the gate. Not to mention that once someone starts making "professional level" work it's either paywalled or lower priority than paying work.

Constructive criticism also isn't "just stop doing that". You need to give actionable advice. For example, I always recommend new comic creators pick up the Understanding Comics/Making Comics/Reinventing Comics trilogy by Scott McCloud. They're textbooks that cover all sorts of writing and illustration techniques.

I like this story, and it's certainly better than something I could write or draw. The frequency of updates has been amazing. I'm excited to see where things go.

  • It's an older meme, so it's possible OP just googled a quick template and didn't realize it wasn't the original.

  • US Midwest - the restaurants I visit don't have iced tea (IF they serve cold tea, it's the premade kind at the soda fountain). I get a cup of hot water, a single bag of black tea, and sometimes a lemon slice. If there isn't sugar at the table you have to ask for it.

  • 😂 leave that shirt as it is. Use it to decorate your house, and as a reminder of your hubris.

  • Oh man, you guys are thinking way too big. Become the CEO of 3 small companies! Abscond with your 3 100k paychecks while working 10 hours a month. You'll never make the news. Enjoy the easy life.

  • Actually, you're right. You said I had ASPD, not ASD. Sorry about that.

  • I know about 5 different people's names at work. If I meet someone new, I forget someone else's name.

    Cause that's how brains work.

  • Hey, Abigail here. I just want people to know the reason this guy got banned is likely because of a deleted comment not included in that thread. OP called me autistic for not liking politics. THAT kind of behavior is not acceptable on lemmy.blahaj.zone, so I reported the comment and let Ada handle it. Ada tried in good faith to reason with OP but it was clear they just wanted to fight. So yeah, they got banned. Ada's a fantastic lady who's been great at keeping the trolls at bay.

  • So cute 🥰 can't wait for tomorrow!

    Also, that background is gorgeous.

  • I appreciate you trying to educate this guy, but it's a two day old troll account. They're intentionally being pedantic.

  • My dude, no. You completely twisted around my words and made a strawman. And your comment proves my point - this is exactly the type of behavior I was seeing from hexbear users. Following a community where people post pictures of their pets has nothing to do with animal rights/activism. I do not want to talk about animal rights, I want to see cute puppy pics and talk about how cute said puppy is. Ditto for all of your other slippery slope arguments.

All groups are inherently political? Please touch grass.

  • My brother and I live together. A lot of people think it's weird but it's been great for both of us. I worked part time while going to college while he footed most of the bills. Now he's a full time student and I'm paying for everything. We get all the household benefits of a married couple (shared chores, lower food bill, cheaper housing per person, mixed finances, etc) without the risks.

Success in early adulthood heavily depends on having familial support, especially from your parents. We don't have that, but together we can still pool resources and do better than if we were alone.

  • If an employee delivering pizza harassed me, they would be fired. They couldn't be hired at that same pizza place again - they'd have a blacklisted ssn.

If a gig work worker harassed me, they could easily resign up using someone else's info. In fact, that's a common method for harassing women - they sign up with a fake woman's profile so you let your guard down.

  • ...what? I think we are in two very different corners of the internet. I follow animal groups, hobbies, work related stuff, and art. None of that should have people screaming about politicians or voting or laws or anything related to politics. I can get all of that from informed sources like AP or Reuters, and when I'm done with the news for the day I'm done. My social media feeds have zero politics, which is why I didn't like hexbear users - they were injecting politics into my non political spaces.

I'll vote when I can and protest when I can, but I don't want to doomscroll through a bunch of angry people when interacting with them has no personal or social benefit.
