  • its funny how wrong they are, like games are probably the best suited case for it - no massive security risks, players could implement features they want.

if Minecraft was open source from the get go, it'd probably be bigger than unreal by now

  • And then there's when its too difficult to upkeep them, exactly like how you can't know everything.

We probably ain't gonna stop innovation, so we mine as well roll with it (especially when its doing a great job redistributing previously expensive assets)

  • and there's many third/almost first party companies to do it for you, they just almost by definition need to charge for it - cause Microsoft and Sony charge them.

The one is even made by the devs and returns its profits to development

  • Not many tools supported out of the box. Its beauty comes in its modularity, so anyone could have always made an add-on - but that takes time and money, what most small devs don't have (but Sega and Tesla could).

Then more recently the devs have had time, and so could make these first-party - and very recently much more stable long term funding, so I'd expect these tools to improve rapidly.

All that being said you could toss a 20 million polygon default cube in UE5 and it'd look/run pretty good

  • Directly no but that's because its legally impossible to.

So a lot of services exist that'll do it for you, cheaper than unity pricing model yet (or you can do it yourself it just takes effort)

There's even a company created by the godot devs specifically to fill this void, and the profits go back to development

  • Quantify and quantization youre saying have different root words? their similarity in definition and to the Latin word quantus is just coincidence? (whoops nitpicky ahem ahem)

And of course it was hypothesized but never proven, double slit pushed it towards theory/fact

but also I'm not sure if you know where the line of quantum mechanics to newtonian mechanics are, cause newton definitely didn't theorize too much about the energy of light

  • Oh yeah tell me who invented the word 'regurgitate' without googling it. Cause the its historical identity is important right?

Or how bout who first created the internet?

Its ok if you dont know, this is how humans work, on the backs of giants

  • Yeah, I was thinking something along the lines of lots n lots of easy shitty data (ex. anyone who can take a picture), some pretty good data (ex. hand labeled receipts), some 100% reliable data (scraped/api) then some sort of system to correlate the 3, especially when prices match identically between receipt and api a fair sized database could create itself.

Also would need some sort of processing center to handle the many image processing requests, but maybe that could be done client side

  • Would a system identifying products from a recipt work for this? combined with other data sources (like web scraping) it would make it a lot easier to crowdsource the data, even if only sortaa technically inclined people do it

  • (wow I'm talking to KDE themselves)

I came into godot at the 4.0 release, and the built in tools are already amazing, even performance wise for 3d. There's no easy visual shader editor -not sure if unity has one - but it forced me to learn opengl es, which at the end of the day is a lot more powerful
