Professional audio engineer. What matters is the capacitance and ohmage of the cable. USB cable tends to be really bad on that front but if it’s a short run, the worst that you’ll have is some diminished highs and some hiss.

Working on the ren fair circuit is exactly what you’re describing. You’re there for a week or a month depending on the ren fair, with the same group of people almost always in warmer weather because ren fairs are no fun when they’re cold. And depending on the job you get, you get to heckle paying customers.

Having been to all but voyageurs go to either the smokey mountains or new river gorge. I was going to put mammoth cave on that list but, you know fears and stuff. I will say mammoth cave does not feel like your typical cave, it’s way larger, and has been adapted for tourists.

I travel for a living.

1. Priority boarding is useless. You wait in line and have to jockey for space. I am usually one of the last people to board, I walk in, go straight to my seat and don’t have to worry about maneuvering past everyone, since they are already seated.
2. Noise canceling headphones. Pick your flavor it doesn’t really matter but having a nice audio playlist or some podcasts downloaded while not being able to hear everyone else will make the flight so much easier.
3. You can look up the flight before you book to figure out legroom, as a result I fly jetblue when I can and southwest when I can’t because they average about 2” and 1” more legroom respectively over everyone else.
4. The smaller and the easier your carry-on is to set down, the better. The goal is for it to be able to fit under the seat and not in the overhead compartment. Overheads fill up quickly, every seat has its own storage. I personally use a small briefcase that I found at a thrift store.
5. Toiletries, you don’t need as much as you think you need, and they don’t need to be in the carry-on. The only thing I would say needs to be in the carry-on is your toothbrush with some toothpaste already applied just in case. Hotels will typically have something resembling shampoo and body soap. Between those two things it will buy you enough time to get to a store if luggage gets lost.
6. Luggage is best in wheels and hard cases. I went so far that I use a pelican case as my luggage case. You probably don’t need to go that hard, but if the luggage can be bent with your hand, imagine what would happen if your luggage ended up at the bottom of the pile. Nothing fragile will survive, unless it’s in a hard case. Also if you aren’t confident that your luggage can survive a trip down the stairs, you need to pack it better, luggage handlers are not known to be gentle.
7. Patience. There’s a lot of hurry up and wait when traveling. Personally I bring a charger in my carry-on so I can use my laptop and phone still. You’re not going to make the plane do its plane things any faster, so just chill out, relax, you’ll get there when you get there. If you do a lot of traveling this is where the lounges come in play, but for one offs not worth it.

I feel that. It may be hard to believe but the breakup was amicable. It’s just really hard to make a 7 time zone difference work, especially almost 20 years ago when video chat was not what it is today. The few times we had together I really do cherish, but it was not the right time or place. We’re now only 1 time zone apart and haven’t seen each other since her wedding, but we do still keep up with each other periodically.

It is possible to be happy for an ex and really wish them the best.

Is 5.11 available in Europe? It’s practically all I wear now. I’ve only had one pair go bad in 7 years.

I live in a bit of a foodie town, so there’s too many to mention, but here are some of my favorites.

Codfather. Dude’s an immigrant from Scotland and was annoyed that there were no fish and chips restaurants here so he made one.

Dashi. Tagline is “Put a little Sriracha in your Sombrero.” It’s hispanic-asian fusion.

Vicious Biscuit. I’ve never seen them not have a line out the door. Really good biscuits with all kinds of toppings.

Boxcar Betty’s. It’s what Chik-Fil-A wishes it could be.

Rodney Scott’s, and Swig and Swine. 2 BBQ restaurants that have spoiled me for BBQ. I have to be careful how often I eat at one of these because it’s so good it’s hard to stop eating.

South Carolina we have Culver’s here as well.

I’m an adult now if I want to eat raw cookie dough I will eat raw cookie dough. Just try to stop me.

The other one that people never understand is the hyper focus side of ADHD. If I get rolling on a task: 1, don’t stop me I will not get back on task. 2, I will forget that planet earth exists, food becomes an afterthought, and breaks, even restroom breaks simply don’t happen.

I used to live on the road, so excluding bathroom breaks and fuel stops. 4 days, with rotating drivers.

Several years ago my family and I went to an improve murder mystery dinner theater, and my family being the goofballs they are decided to cheer for the bumbling idiot character anytime he accomplished anything, regardless of how menial. So as the night went on the bumbling idiot character would start to cheer for himself followed by all of us, and eventually the whole crowd anytime he did anything.

So now if anyone in my family does something super menial but it was still a big task because circumstances, like mowing the lawn after a long hard day at work, we cheer “Yay, Eric!!!” After the name of the bumbling idiot, from an improve murder mystery dinner theater performance, from 12 years ago.

For a while we had the kitchen shovel.

It was a garden trowel that we had washed and used as a very large spoon when we first moved in, because we hadn’t found the silverware yet.

We have a suite of kitchen tools because sometimes walking downstairs to the garage is to far when all you want to do is measure something real quick or quickly tighten or loosen a screw.

I am someone who likes to solve problems, so strategy / management games tend to be my preferred. For instance I recently did a run of Factorio with no belts.

I also like trying new things even if failure is an option, in fact failure should be expected if you’re trying hard enough. So KSP is another one of my favorites.

We currently are, but not really. A gigabyte is 1024 megabytes, and a megabyte is 1024 kilobytes, etc. However macOS and hardware manufacturers use 1000 instead of 1024 to calculate storage space. So you could say Apple uses the metric version of storage and Windows uses the imperial version.

2. Shuffle doesn’t actually shuffle. It prioritizes songs based on listening habits, and licensing fees. They did a major update in 2022 to address the issues of it playing the same artist back to back, and I noticed a stark improvement, I actually can use shuffle now.
3. The 320 kbps OGG, or AAC standards that Spotify supports are, outside of critical listening environments, indistinguishable from lossless audio. The only way you are going to hear a difference is with some very high end gear, and a very well trained ear. For reference Tidal themselves don’t stream with lossless audio. They stream with MQA, a very good, near lossless high quality compression algorithm, good enough to be called master quality authenticated, but still compressed, and the version Tidal uses is limited to the 16 bit version not the 24 bit version. Is Tidal Higher quality? Technically. Noticeable? Not without machines and measurement tools.

For reference I tune studios and PA systems for a living. I know how much peoples ears lie to them. Enjoy what you want to enjoy, because at the end of the day we listen to music for enjoyment. But the only technical win Tidal has is they pay artists more.

I personally prefer a hammock, gets the added benefit of being rocked to sleep.
