Ah, I didn’t know about the incomplete timeline / mesh propagation issue. Sounds like a notable incentive.

Also the bulk of them these days are some kind of scam. A lot of people worldwide have access to US citizens’ voter data. During the last election cycle, Democratic voters were beleaguered by a massive surge in spam messages claiming to be from the DNC, for a variety of scams including simple interception of funds.

Now that our own government is selling our data directly to international interests, and consumer protection agencies are being defunded, it seems unlikely to get better. Responding to, clicking on, or donating to any text claiming to be from DNC affiliates is probably a mistake.

The bigger mistake though is rewarding the DNC for their incompetence and corruption with your donation. Only AOC and Sanders’ group of progressives have demonstrated unwavering integrity and follow-through, so their donations should be made directly rather than through the DNC.

Donate exclusively to the squad. Starve the Dumpsterfire National Convention.

Why do people tend to pile onto the same instance? Is there some benefit I’m missing?

Input sanitization typically handles this as a string that only allows characters supported by the data type specified by the table field in question. A permissive strategy might scrub the string of unexpected characters. A strict one might throw an error. The point, however, is to prevent the evaluation of inputs as anything other than their intended type, whether or not reserved characters are present.

Probably, though the artist appeared to draw η (eta) rather than n which could mean they’re using learning rate to compute the bounds of some other value. I’m more curious what y-base log they’re taking and why.

Bone-apple-tea was the name of a community that was dedicated to the phenomenon of people attempting to use words and phrases in writing that they had clearly only learned phonetically, resulting in funny mondegreens.

The eponymous example was the French “bon appétit” that someone had always assumed was an English phrase: “bone-apple-tea.”

Yeah that one doesn’t fit. Kids have continued buying chucks straight up to modern day. Only difference is the soles appear to have gotten chunkier.

Edit: after reading the synopsis I think this is just too wholesome for me to poke fun at. Added to reading list.

I understand the terror of watching this unfold from the outside, if only because many people I love on the inside are facing these new horrors directly. Some wouldn’t even call it new, just a more explicit and sweeping abandonment of our crumbling democratic sociopolitical facade.

Things don’t work that way.

But they do. When it comes to collective action, especially when so many are effectively kept in the dark, revolutions progress slowly then all at once. For example the French Revolution didn’t attain critical mass with the general populace until the treasury was literally empty and the government couldn’t pay its bills. Even then it took many bloody years to stabilize into its modern liberal democratic form.

By comparison, the intent of this new regime, while obvious to anyone paying attention, has only been truly manifest for a few breathless weeks. Though it takes time for the light to break through all the disinformation bubbles and dawn on the general populace, it is finally happening.

I too want it to happen more quickly, and feel every bit of urgency you do, but the truth is it takes people like you and me working together to mobilize others, because this is just one expression of a global crisis, with global roots, that can only be solved with global collective action. Blaming the oppressed and deceived people of democracies that fall is understandable, since everyone thinks “that couldn’t happen here” while it certainly can and has been for years. It’s self-defeating, however, because we can only win this fight together.
