  • It's not hard to find so you never feel bad about slathering it over anything in copious amounts.

Tastes good, but you can totally gourmand up with it without guilt. Plus, at least in the UK we don't have the variety that I think folks in the Americas have, Frank's is, whilst common, not Tabasco, Encona, or Reggae Reggae common.

  • Lovely interview.

Lutris got Magic: Arena working for me on my Linux machine a few years back and gave me a very enjoyable card game grind for about 3 years until I stayed limiting MtG:A to my phone on the commute.

Amazing work both from the Lutris team, and the interviewer.

  • I've found from employers it tends to mean "we should be valued and given time at least on par, but we'll push for more, than your actual family. Work will call you at any time of day or night and you should be ready to drop everything and get in on no notice."

  • Disconnect it from the network and factory reset it.

That stopped mine showing me adverts. Won't stand adverts from a device I've paid to bring into my home.

Only had to do that because I checked to see if the "download subtitles" feature would actually work.

  • Yes, it hurts seeing those 3 or 4 digits numbers.

But once you've finished a run once or twice, you'll get more options and be able to turn it essentially into Sudoku or some other solitaire puzzle and do most levels perfectly once you know what's going on and having a few more options.

  • Minimetro and Cultist Simulator are my go to "comfy" games, but cultist simulator really does get you feeling like you're chasing a mad eldritch horror when playing at times. It's deliberately obtuse and odd, and then a revelation of the truth takes you over and you push on beyond your wildest expectations.

Slay the Spire and Hollowknight have both been mentioned enough in other posts in case anyone reading this is somehow unaware of either of them.

Faster than Light and Into the Breach are both excellent games. FtL is rng mitigation and crisis control par excellence. ItB is basically chess, and you play out the turns as best you can. It's rewarding, but once you get good you need to ramp up the difficulty somewhat to keep it fun.

  • Yeah, the sinophobia is often atrocious. I lived and worked in China for a few years, so saw a lot of the good and some of the bad. People are people, and have the same needs and goals mostly, regardless of made up lines on a map.
I try to bring a reasoned, level line when I can... But I'm pretty done with trying to correct all the sinophobia nutters running off lies. It wears me out. Thankfully others do that so I can rest less guiltily.

Both the PRC as well as Anglophone media love playing into and orientalist stereotypes for their own reasons. Which doesn't help.

  • "Internal migration rules" - yes, the Hukou system is alive and well.

Though for some smaller cities the restrictions have been lifted, but for any city most non-Chinese have heard of legal migration to it won't be easy.

But there is a lot of illegal internal migration, and those people are pretty much the bottom rung of Chinese society, working hard jobs long hours in poor conditions, and often sleeping 4, 5 to a small room.
