  • Isn't scrolling a single docker-compose.yml easier to see everything? I mean, if you want to change anything - you just edit and re-run command.

Personal preference. I prefer a gui for some things. I also prefer to not put all my containers in one monolithic config. It can also automate using configs in GitHub which is nice.

It also provides a nice dashboard of container health across multiple hosts and makes it easy to manage those hosts from a "single pane of glass".

    But, personal preference.

I ran a kvm host manually for years. Years. I recently started over with proxmox because it could be exhausting and this is easier.

  • Anyone who's been alive long enough to remember cordless phones will remember that the microwave interfered with them.

  • I literally just rdp into my work laptop daily. Everything works, even Teams video calls.

  • So, now's as good a time as any to ask. Why is everyone using Nextcloud? I've been quietly using Owncloud for a very long time and never had any issues with it. How is Owncloud bad?

  • Speak for yourself. "Cucumber water" does not have the same "sensory qualities" as water unless taste doesn't count as a sense.

  • Open both for airflow and because we have animals that do not like to be restricted.

  • That's odd. I'm currently monitoring 17 vms on one host along with a handful of physical devices. Nothing like the issues you've encountered has happened.

  • I'm also using checkmk and have been happy with it. I had been using zabbix prior but found it so be cumbersome and sluggish.

  • No. It's not. Don't go somewhere you can't afford (including the tip) is not arrogant.

  • For technical people, maybe. For the avg user Windows and Mac are the computer and Linux is that thing nerds talk about sometimes.

  • If you can't afford something you shouldn't buy it. Just because you don't agree with the system doesn't mean you get to ignore it and then justify it by taking a moral high ground.

You know the servers wages are dependent on tips and you choose not to pay them. THAT is the social contract. Whether you agree with it or not.

If you cared about changing the system you'd take steps to change it without screwing the workers. You're just being cheap.
