  • I am not young but I can’t beat Souls games. I adore the world design of Dark Souls, Bloodbourne and Elden Ring but I just can’t motivate myself to suffer through them. I know they are beatable, there are many safepoints, but I don’t have fun doing that. Still, I wish these games had a difficulty slider for anyone who just wants to enjoy the story. But that will freak out the gamer bros who think that will somehow ruin their precious game.

And it’s not like I never play anything on hard mode. Games like Sniper Elite work best in „Authentic“ mode for me. In puzzle games I always turn off any assistance if possible. But simply increasing the health bar of bosses is not my understanding of fun.

  • I’ve been on Mastodon for a year now and have no problem finding people to follow. Mostly through boosts by people I already know or by following hashtags. I don’t ever go to local or federated timelines. But my goal is not to have a constant stream of new content, so I’m not actively looking for people anymore. I want to open it 2-3 times a day for a few minutes and be able to see most of what happened.

Hashtags should be your main focus though. That’s how you find people and content of your interest.

  • Personally I don’t want to have some animal jumping around on my furniture, eating my (potentially harmful) plants, kicking down stuff, sleeping on my face at night.

But I like them … at someone elses home.

  • You can easily train a dog to use litter boxes. There are actually indoor grass mats you can buy. It’s mostly a way to deal with very old dogs who have trouble keeping it in.

But please don’t do that with young and healthy dogs. They need outside time. If you don’t want to do that, just don’t get a dog.

  • Their biggest strength, aside from fantasy physical strength, is years and years of experience in the field. You could train every aspect of it individually, in the end it’s all theory. It’s like every other job, only their jobs don’t exist, to the extend that they do it.

I’d say the closest that you could come to it is if you would join the French foreign legion or something.

Another factor that’s missing in the real world are the gadgets and impossible armors. Without that they wouldn’t survive this long.

  • Never stopped and don't see anything even close to being a replacement. Of course social media works as news aggregation but I prefer to have control over it.

I subscribe to T-Online, a german general news site (though I need to find a better one), Ars Technica, 404, a few webdev and tech feeds and webcomics. It used to be much more but some sites just bombarded me with so many articles it's impossible to keep up. I like to have not more than ~50 articles per day.

I use Reeder, mostly on the iPad.
