  • Getting all the old grease off isn't super important. You mainly just want to get it clean enough to make sure the bearing surface on it and the ball on the back of the drum are smooth and not getting scratched/galled up.

  • I have about the same dryer I've been keeping alive for years. I wouldn't worry too much about the dull spot. That's likely where the old coil got a hot spot before it failed. It's just discolored the zinc coating. Shouldn't effect heat dissipation but it might be more susceptible to rust now.

If you're not in a big hurry, I would replace that white plastic bearing the drum rides on (you can see it on the very left in the last picture). It's super squeaky when it fails. If you don't replace it, at least give it a dollop of high temp grease.

  • High highs, low lows so far. Monday morning an adorable kitten wandered into my mechanic shop and applied for a job. He's official pest control manager now unless I find where he came from. He doesn't know a litter box or the sound of a cat food can opening so it's probably a stray/feral. But it's one of the most affectionate cats I've come across in a long time.

Tuesday leaving work after a meeting/pets with the new employee, I made it about 2 blocks and someone ran a stop sign and hit me. I'm ok, they are apparently ok (I stayed far back to keep it civil) but my poor 30 year old truck took a pretty hard hit. It's nothing special to anyone else; but I like it, and have put a lot of blood, sweat, and time into it. Hoping it's not as bad as it looks.

Anyways, here's the cat tax: https://i.imgur.com/ntvdV4V.jpg Hope it brightens y'all's day.

  • it’s interesting to see the drone’s perspective for a change.

The Russia/Ukraine conflict has really shown the drone's place on the battlefield. It's awesome; and terrifying.

  • I don't mean it's good for them to ride the whole race out, that is just a spoiler vote. But at this early point it's good to have left leaning opponents out there to force democrats to answer questions that may be popular with the public but they wouldn't ask themselves if they were running opposed.

  • Pre-primary 3rd party candidates have their place. They can attend debates and can force their opponents to concede to popular ideas for fear of losing votes. Past that, yes they are just spoiler votes in our two party system.

Are you really blaming Nader for the 2000 shitshow?

    Edit:

The national Democratic Party is the farthest left it’s been since before Watergate

That's still not left enough for me.

  • While 3rd party candidates aren't even remotely viable until we get ranked choice voting; Anything that helps to pull centrist dems left is a good thing.

  • Just checked; same here. And my "ad-free tier" is actually ad free.

  • I think Nexus should be able to ultimately decide what they do/don't host on their platform. Regardless what it is. They have many mods that aren't my taste. I don't install them.

  • I’m also bit worried as folks told me you can miss certain side quests if you advance too fast,

Yeah if you're wanting to do as many side missions as possible, it's best to do all the white colored missions first. The yellow one's aren't going anywhere and they are sometimes chapter milestones that can lock you out of side missions. But I wouldn't worry too much about it. A. There are so many quests that are only available at a certain time/place or after certain events, you'll never hit them all in one play through. and B. ::: spoiler spoiler You can play a lot of the side missions you missed in the epilogue. Albeit with different dialog. ::: Take your time and enjoy it, definitely worth it.

Now I'm going to have to fire it up later just to spend a couple hours roaming the wilderness camping, hunting, and fishing with my "Never leaving chapter 3 Arthur"

  • It sounds like you are looking for something like this: https://www.adafruit.com/product/2210

If you look around the site, there are lots of helpful tutorials to get you started with it and also help you adapt it to your needs. They also sell most of the extra parts you would need. For example you could add this to make it motion triggered. Their parts aren't the cheapest tho, you are paying for the ease of use, excellent documentation, and tutorials. If you're crafty, most of it should be salvageable from e-waste.

  • Like single frequencies/tones (beeps, boops)? Or more complex sounds (dog barking, voice)? A little more specifics about your project would help us give better info.

  • Tbh without the fediverse, I would likely engage more often.

I think a lot of people would. Being federated means that every comment on every subject gets sent out to every instance beehaw is federated with, even if you delete it. That feels less like sharing a feeling with a community and more like spraying it out into the internet.

  • Cautiously optimistic. Weather is looking pleasant all week. I've managed to get my backlog at work down from about 6 months to 2, so that's a lot less stress.

Prepping for a dirt bike race next month (hare scramble) and it's been 4 years since I have; I'm super out of shape but it'll be fun.

  • No, I played it at release and was HOOKED. I remember clearing a 3 day holiday weekend so I could play through the whole thing (for the second or third time) in one sitting.

I had somehow missed that a HD remaster was released a couple years ago, so I gave it a shot and got sucked right back in. Still a fantastic game, even if the cut scenes and voice acting are a little dated.

For anyone who hasn't played it, it's abandonware now.
