There is a slight learning curve to Mastodon. Is there a method for verifying accounts? Honest question there. I signed up for Mastodon years ago but I used it as often as I used Twitter which is to say never.

The officers likely were not one of the people in town. A town like that is too small to have dedicated police. The country sheriff's department has people patrol and respond to specific areas of the county.

A grift would be them getting the money illegally through something like a con. Graft is technically legal but clearly dishonest.

The university president gets an absurd income of over $1 million per year. Almost $1500/year of a student's tuition simply goes to paying the president. University of Washington's president (references because I went there) also makes over a million but the school also has 51k students so each student gives the president a $20 per year.

The school also got hundreds of millions of government funds to revamp the school. DeSantis replaced the board with his friends, most of whom have no background in education. This whole thing is basically one giant graft.

Then we can bitch and moan that Vance got no votes in the primary and was anointed the presidency.

And then we get Vance. Joy.

They just have to be confirmed by the majority of the Senate. If every Democrat goes to confirm, there is nothing Republicans can do.

That's a little under $10 where I am in Seattle. No tax on food here. If I feel like driving a little bit to Target, it's only $8. I definitely know of food deserts though. The town I grew up in only has Safeway and Walmart. The IGA closed down. Looking at prices, they are about the same as they are here which sucks because the incomes are nowhere near what they are here.

I'm alright with a week of groceries for the four of us choosing $125/wk but I know that is difficult for some.
