  • Factually incorrect and an erasure of the experience of the millions of Palestinians continuing to eke out a living in the concentration camp/warzone hybrid that the IDF have made Gaza into. You're making it too obvious that you are arguing in bad faith and just want to attack Biden regardless of the facts. Not to mention bringing up abortion rights as if it is believable that Biden is responsible for a republican supermajority in the S.C. and the solution is to enable more republican control over the government

  • Average annual cost of car ownership is something like $12000 depending on how you calculate it. That is enough money for you to take one of those $40 round trip Ubers to the mall almost every day, and any of those style trips you can replace with transit or active transportation is even more money in your pocket, if you can swing it with your locale (don't want to assume)

  • Based on the Wikipedia article on biological immortality referencing species that live for a couple hundred years and the Wikipedia page on armillaria ostoyae mentioning living specimens that are multiple millenia old (and thousands of acres large!), I'm guessing that may be what the prof is referring to?

  • Any Lords of Sealand want to convince your peers to issue a law that what the USSR did was legal and that, in fact, Crimea was supposed to be interpreted as "everything west of the Urals"? Seems like it would hold about the same amount of water

  • Actions or action? I was infuriated by the railroad strike response, and I'll never view that as anything but a miserable decision, but Biden was also the first president to join picket lines with the UAW strike and, for what it's worth, leaders of the railroad unions did give him some credit for helping negotiate for the sick day benefits they were able to earn in the months following. He's no Mother Jones by a longshot, but grading the balance of his actions on the curve of US politicians, he's a C+ at worst

  • Easy. It's fake because conservatives would never express the idea of a moist vagina as a positive. Female pleasure is an anathema to them because it means there isn't an unbalanced power dynamic favoring them

  • That's a pretty scary thought right? Like I'm not saying you are advocating this view, but there's sort of an undertone there of "don't withhold your body from us or well take it by force". Again, you could just be making an objective prediction, and I don't want to imply otherwise, but if someone thinks that a spike in rape cases is an appropriate consequence to this movement (and you would think there would have to be for your prediction to come true), I hope that person/persons can have a good wank followed by some deep self-reflection on their views towards women

  • It's the money. Just at a surface level, if you compare the rockets that launched these missions (falcon 9, H-IIA, LVM3, Soyuz), theres just a lot less mass being sent to the moon with these landers, which means less margin for error. Apollo 11 was also predated by 10 test launches, including a full on dress rehearsal where they intentionally did the whole mission except the last 15 km of descent. Apollo also allowed itself to rely on human pilots to deal with the difficult problem of flying and landing a craft unlike any other in an environment unlike any other, which these machines have to do autonomously

  • I assume you are being sarcastic, but in case anyone thinks Abbott is a harmless delusional, this whole latest secession thing sprouted up because Abbott is ordering state employees to prevent federal employees from rescuing drowning people and those people are dying because of the interference. Not to mention the Texans that die every time their power grid fails and the Texan women who are being forced under threat of legal penalty to carry life threatening pregnancies to term

  • Obviously, vote no matter what. But I don't think this proves Nikki is the stronger candidate. For every 1 Nikki voter that votes for Biden over Trump, there may easily be 3 or 4 Trump voters who stay home rather than vote for Haley. Trump achieved unprecedented turnout in 2020 when he lost (because Biden achieved even more unprecedented turnout). I doubt Nikki can capture that same result

  • Wow, this article reads very biased in favor of the NIMBYs, especially right out of the gate (it does bring in some counter-narratives by the middle/end). "real concerns" is an unnecessary adjective that downplays the fact that one of these concerns appears to be TOD causing traffic and parking issues as if the alternative wouldn't and another appears to be endangerment of seniors without a clear causal link. "established low-density neighborhoods" as if no infill/up zoning should ever take place and we should only ever build towers on farmland at the outskirts of the city where they would definitely drive high car usage and traffic for inner neighborhoods. The writer is speaking from the perspective of the project opponents, but does not make it clear that these are biased perspectives being reported on and not facts, especially with the "real" preface
