  • Except all the liberals insisted they would vote for Biden's corpse before letting Trump win. What does it say about them if an actual progressive is the real dealbreaker?

  • This is not colorblind friendly at all.

  • I wonder that as well, I have a false front incisor and haven't noticed any difference in durability, but as far as sensation goes it's practically identical, if a bit less sensitive to cold. Then again, the part that actually gets replaced doesn't exactly have nerve endings, I still have those underneath it.

  • I didn't mean to imply that the Wright Brothers were single-handedly responsible for the space-age tech boom lol, just that the royal "we" were about 66 years out from the moon landing at the time the Wright Brothers had their first successful flight.

  • Except not all Zionists are Jews, many are Christian.

  • Bezos just had to know what the true hero of the story, Jules-Pierre Mao, would get up to next.

  • I'd say we're as close to that as the Wright Brothers were to figuring out the Apollo moon landing

So about 66 years then? I personally think we're very far from creating anything on par with human intelligence, but that isn't necessary for a lot of terrible things to come from AI tech. Honestly I would be more comfortable with a human-level or greater AI than something lesser still capable of agency.

If an AI is making decisions with consequences I'd prefer that it could be reasoned with as a peer, or at the least be smart enough to consider its' own long-term sustainability, which must in some way be linked with that of humanity's.

  • Agreed, until prosthetics can achieve full parity of both function and sensation then they are only good as replacements for parts that are already missing. No sane person is swapping their hand for one that lacks a sense of touch just as good or better than what they have already, even if it's mechanically superior. In such a scenario that mechanical superiority is desired they would opt for an augmentation over a prosthetic.

  • Except the moment you have orbital dominance over a planet then no amount of ground or atmosphere based weaponry matters whatsoever. All they would have to do is drop some mass from orbit and they can cause destruction far beyond even the most powerful nuclear weapons.

What you forget is that weapons are just an application of the sciences. Superior science = superior weaponry, even if the aliens haven't bothered to "spec into" weapons research.

  • Wow, I know some of those words.

  • It seems like you're going down the Silicon Valley Techno-Libertarian rabbit hole, so I highly recommend looking into some Anarchist critiques of Libertarianism and reflecting a bit. This is a trap you're stumbling into.

  • Name a more iconic duo than Marxists and Anarchist-erasure.

  • You seem to think that Anarchism is just the extreme/pure form of Libertarianism, and that it's just about more/less government, which couldn't be further from the truth.

I'll acknowledge my bias upfront, I consider myself an Anarchist, so keep that in mind as you read my comment.

American Libertarianism presents itself as being about "small government," which makes it sound appealing to people who are skeptical of authority but have a very shallow understanding of politics. In truth, it's an ideology that holds individual property rights as superior to all others. To an American Libertarian, any infringement on their property rights is the most egregious possible violation of their freedom.

Anarchism means "without rulers." Anarchists oppose all forms of exploitation and oppression, which is described as any arrangement in which one person or group exerts authority over another person or group, usually by force. They favor organizing society via "voluntary free association," which is when people make decisions together on the basis of general consent. To an Anarchist, private property (as opposed to personal property, there is a distinction) is just another way for someone to exploit another, such as when a landlord collects rent.

This text explains what anarchism is pretty well.

  • Lefty redneck here, looking forward to receiving my free horse.

  • The fantasy is the competent opposition to all of those things.

  • It's because he maintained plausible deniability, no bribes or kompromat necessary. Fact checkers couldn't definitively say he supported project 25 because he feigned ignorance.

  • They also make the mistake of thinking that in order to appeal to conservative voters they have to be conservative. I have more often gotten through to conservatives with socialist economics and anarchist political philosophy than I ever could when I was a liberal trying to sway them on cultural issues and basic welfare.

And after getting through to them they started to come around on the cultural issues too.

  • Just want to clarify I was referring to the comments and not your post. I will be right there with you.

  • Kentucky amendment 2, which would have redirected public funds to private schools, failed miserably. Of all the red states, Kentucky seems to be somewhat unique in its' strong resistance to Republican attacks on public education. It is, after all, why we have a Democratic governor. I only hope that continues to hold true.
