  • How well did that work out for Native Americans…? They were so overtaken they were forgotten lmfao.

Not everything needs to be whitewashed, just look at native Americans, they’ve already even forgotten and this happened to them. History repeats itself….

They can always go and make their own inclusive pageant, instead of the reverse happening in every country. Since they are more or less forced to be inclusive and give up their heritage so they aren’t protested by people who don’t understand.

  • Yes everything gets whitewashed and entire culture gets forced out again.

Why is it that native Americans had to go and make their own pageant so they weren’t forgotten?

“Japanese” means something, unlike American. When you hear Japanese, you don’t think white person, same with (Native) American. See how I had to specify so you know which? Same thing is happening with these pageants.

  • If someone were to look up images of a Japanese person, they would be very confused to find pictures of a white person. Yes they are Japanese culturally, but not physically or genetically. These are what the pageants are about, not everything needs to be inclusive of all aspects. It ruins the intents of it.

  • The issue is the dev asked Valve for permission, so if they give the go ahead Nintendo has a case that valve condoned and allowed it.

If the dev used the open source tools it wouldn’t matter, they used the proprietary Nintendo tools that aren’t publicly available.

  • Portal 64, they used the non open source code/tools, so Nintendo does have a bit of a case, hence why they are hesitant to give permission after the dev asked them.

One of those if they never asked, probably wouldn’t be an issue since valve never “knew of it”.

  • They used to disallow adult games, they don’t allow NFT or crypto.

They have drawn plenty of lines, and moved them when it benefits them. They are just like any other corporation, they just hide it really well and the fans forgive or hide the rest for them.

  • Lemmy has 3 different feeds with 8 different ways to sort them, atleast my viewer does…. What more do you want?

Curating a feed is best left to yourself, not someone who can tweak the algorithm to avoid certain posts showing up since they have an agenda.

  • Except it’s for any “game news”….., so if they are peddling another game of theirs, it shows up there as well. Or we are selling a plushie, it’s there in the same place. It’s not just patch notes dude… and never has been either.

  • It is, but steam does have its own form of advertising. Their front page is all ads for games and sales, go to your library there is ads for updates for your games.

It just seems to be acceptable since it’s their ecosystem content, but it’s still ads for all intent and purposes.

  • So where do we draw the line on when new words can’t be created anymore? Shakespeare? Wassup? Crunk? Your username even has LOL in it, I don’t think we should be taking language lessons from someone who parades that around….

An online forum lacking in content and engagement isn’t the place to make a stand against minor mistakes that don’t detract from the conversation.
