  • It's not even a mild opinion, it's a reality that more and more of my friends are living in. I'm in my mid 40's so it's not that it has anything to do with strong opinions, it just makes sense. 9 years ago we bought an electrified cargo bike. That was the first step in realizing we don't really need a car. I just added it all up and it made sense.

  • That's a weird take indeed. In Belgium, and a lot of other countries, you file your income and file what you think is deductable drop your income as costs or benefits and then the government calculates what you owe. Last few years they had it all figured out and the only thing I had to do was check if the figure they had were correct and sign. Filing taxes took me less than 10 minutes. On the other hand, we are paying more taxes than most of the countries in the world.

  • Yes, I've been with a girl like that for 2 years. My friends told me that I could get better looking women and found 8t strange I hooked up with her but my god, she got me going. Also, she was a nymphomaniac. That's the main reason we broke up. Having sex twice a day takes the fun out of it if you're not a sex addict. I encountered her a few weeks ago. She gained a lot of weight but I still wanted to screw her badly. It's totally weird.

  • I use a car about 4 times a month. On those 4 occasions I need that car. When buying my house I considered some extra criteria like proximity to a bus stop, train station and a good cycleable connection to daily goods stores. Even 10 years ago that caused my house being 15 to 30% more expensive as houses in different areas.

I am lucky to be able to afford such a thing but now I don't own a car for about 4 years and the cost of owning and maintaining a car seems to be far more expensive than the extra I had to invest in my house. Cars have become a lot more expensive while inflation made it easier to do the downpayments on my house.

  • Yeah, it's double. I quit Concerta a few days after I concocted the plan to sabotage CERN in Switzerland because I was convinced they would create a universe swallowing black hole when they would boot their large hadron collider. I had the bugout bag with supplied ready. Car fueled up and extra supplies in the trunk. Thank god I had an appointment with my psychiatrist to renew my prescription at that time. I told about my concerns and she figured out I was becoming paranoid because of a certain hyperfocus.

On that other hand, the few years I took it all the stuff that went dramatically wrong in my life because of me forgetting or not caring went away.

  • Most of the children around here get their first smartphone at the age of 12. At school they get thaught about the risks of the internet and social media but parents are also asked to guide their children on this path.

Before that age most schilderen have access to a tablet and the advice there is to only let it be used in the places where you as a parent are present. Not in their room for example. You don't have to hover above them but just being near and checking the tablet every few days or weeks will do.

Same with gaming consoles or computers. We have them in our living room so our children only use them in those spaces where other people can be around. That way we can hear their conversations and intervene when their are getting too loud or make sure they use proper language.

No real software limitations apart from adblockers. I did block a whole list of porn sites when they were younger than 12 bit after that age I took away all the restrictions on my router. We had a conversation on the impact and consequences of porn but they will be curious and will find or encounter porn eventually.

So, I would say. Teach and supervice your child and make sure they have the appropriate age for or are to be trusted with their devices.

  • I like the French 'Balance ton porc'.

'Balance your (inner) pig' of 'Keep your inner pig' in check'

On social networks, beyond the feminist spheres, a call around the keywords #balancetonporc and #metoo broke the omerta and reports testimony ranging from daily sexism and street harassment to sexual assaults.
