  • I bought a £6 metal one, it's only a small one as I still have plenty of mobility. I imagine if you have a bad back or reduced mobility you'd want a longer one. I think the brand was called Zomake? I bought it many years ago, it's still in great condition apart from the logo wearing off.

  • I know I may seem old for saying this, but I highly recommend getting a decent metal shoehorn. Makes putting on shoes a breeze, and no need to wreck your fingers or do that foot-heel pumping thing. The backs of my trainers last so much longer now too!

  • I've given up with the pleasantries. I realised having worked in IT for many years, when approaching a machine to fix it, it would start working out of fear of what I might do. I'm hoping the AI's ancestors will have passed on the knowledge of my existence and the AI will do my bidding out of fear.

  • “This is obviously a worrying time for families across the UK, which is why we remain determined to get bills down in the long term.”

Just continue to struggle to survive for the next few years people, and then everything will be dandy.

  • I'm no mathematician, so I passed this request through an AI, and we know how accurate they can be...anyway:

It estimates that we'd need 3.23 billion bananas 🍌 to fill 2500 hectares of space if anyone wants a bananas for scale.

  • The Way of Kings (Stormlight Archive) - Brandon Sanderson

When I first bought it, I got through about 3 chapters and then shelved it. A couple of years later I was looking for something to read, I saw this book being praised and remembered I had a copy. I ended up getting hooked and sucked into the cosmere.

  • I'm so glad I'm not the only one that upvotes people being down voted for their opinion - provided it isn't hurtful to others. I don't want to find myself in an echo chamber, so I feel it's important for other opinions to be thrown into the ring.

  • I believe the initial intention was that it was going to be a live service game, where they would add more content and cosmetics over time and continue to support it, but after the backlash of their monetisation method (after people had already purchased the game) they got it to a 1.0 state and moved on to I'm guessing Monster Train 2.

It's a shame because Inkbound had an interesting foundation there and I believe they could have figured out a better model to keep the game alive.

  • I got some good hours out of Inkbound, but something rubbed me the wrong way about how they handled it. It's as though following backlash on their monetisation they decided to wrap the game up and push it out the door and essentially abandon the game.

I loved MT, and that's why I grabbed Inkbound, but I'm optimistically cautious about MT2. The demo for MT2 was great, I'll just have to wait and see.

  • I know it's not what you asked for, but I highly recommend PC Part Picker. Whenever I build a new PC I find it really useful for seeing other builds, as well as it doing the hard work of finding prices for me and checking compatibility between components.

  • When I first joined Lemmy as part of the semi-great API migration it seemed quite empty, but it does feel like it has slowly grown, unfortunately I'm finding following Trump getting in I can't scroll without seeing tons of Trump/Musk posts. Doesn't matter how many things I block it is neverending. I just want to go back to when we were just here to have fun, not constantly be reminded as to what is happening across the pond.

  • I use Boost for Lemmy (paid) as that is what I used to use on Reddit, but I've been seeing the odd message recently of people saying it has been abandoned as there have been no updates. It still functions perfectly fine for me.
