Squad Member Summer Lee Says Pelosi Wrong That Harris Should Govern From Center: ‘Progressive Ideals’ Are ‘What Average American Wants’

I mean the reason Hillary only ever needed about 30% to win was explicitly the DNC and that same reason depressed turnout for Bernie (super delegates falling in line with party will for Hillary, and announcing their support for her en masse and up front so that Bernie's was already badly losing before the first primary vote was cast, which in turn reduces turnout for him.
As for only selling well on the coasts, I'm in fucking WV and we went 53% for Bernie vs 35% for Hillary which is why Hillary only won WV by one delegate. She got 20% here in the general.
That doesn't really work either, see pre release coverage for Deliverance: Kingdom Come and aside from a few articles during early crowdfunding about how they were naughty bad people for not having black people in a game set in a few square kilometers of 15th century Bohemia and having a "female character DLC" (the game has a fixed protagonist and the DLC lets you play from the perspective of another character, framed as her telling the MC about how she managed to escape the attack on their village). After the articles about them being racist and sexist for that, there was basically radio silence until it launched and was too big a deal to ignore.
Except they didn't really pick a side - they got attacked and responded in a way that was bad for PR but honestly kinda predictable. It all got sparked off by them getting a bad review that was mostly positive but penalized the Chinese game heavily inspired by a piece of classic Chinese literature (Journey to the West) for not being diverse enough (aka not featuring many women and no black people), 6/10. What they did since (the rules for streamers seeking a key) has been a (badly chosen) reaction to that.
Unless having a game heavily inspired by a piece of classical literature that doesn't express the racial and gender diversity of modern LA is itself choosing a side?
...then they just keep shooting until next in line is GOP. Then that person pardons who needs pardoned.
They would actually have to show at every point in their genealogical history, every single ancestor, going back to the founding of the country, was a citizen. If even one of their ancestors was an immigrant, then every child descended from them is not a natural born citizen.
I don't think that's required by their argument at all, merely that both parents be citizens (by birth or naturalized) when the child is born (this is stricter than is normally used, but is not ridiculously impossible to demonstrate like your suggestion). Them inventing this new definition and wanting to apply it to Kamala is just plain racism though.
She'd already escaped. She was free of him. Then she got a gun, hunted him down, and shot him.
This is why she couldn't claim self defense or a battered woman defense - she'd already escaped.
Only after they're done conscripting all males 18-26, using the existing system that's been in place for decades.
You know, the one that's really unpopular to invoke, the one that's a quarter million dollar fine to not sign up for but enforcing that was so unpopular that they merely made proving you've signed up a requirement for things like going to college or getting some jobs if male, the one they recently made signing up all males of appropriate age for automatic?
We literally have child marriage in some states.
If you define "child marriage" as there being any scenario where someone under 18 might be married, then it's most states. Only 13 states actually ban child marriage under that definition.
The rest generally require you to be 18, but have exceptions with approval by the parents and/or a court (depending on the state). Four states have no hard minimum at all, one has a hard minimum of 15, most have a hard minimum of 16.
Same reason why the death penalty is bad - the system isn't perfect, and people get wrongfully convicted. Hell, a majority that the Innocence Project has gotten exonerated were convicted of sex crimes.
Why does moving to renewables necessarily mean nationalized/socialized utilities? Imagine not being able to imagine a world where one thing you support is not inexorably tied to every other thing you support.
Why would renewable energy necessarily mean fewer billionaires? Major solar/wind generation plants have to be built by someone and somewhere, it seems like the best you're doing is making billionaires pivot their investments/changing which people the billionaires are.

So basically, “gender pay-gaps are fine, because the value of a woman is decided by the free market.”? Fuck that capitalist drivel…
Pay differences between different groups of performers are fine, because you can't pay more than you bring in in revenue and be sustainable. The WNBA makes 2% as much as the NBA and also gets subsidized by the NBA (as in the NBA pays the WNBA to be a thing).
Tear down the entire sexist gender-segregated professional sports industry for illegal/unconstitutional gender discrimination and require professional for-profit sports be co-ed like every other industry in this country is mandated to be.
Every "men's" sports league in the US allows women to compete, presuming they can compete at the same level. This is rare because of the general differences in height, weight and upper body strength between men and women, which are exacerbated when you start talking about professional athletes as they tend to be on the tail of the curve for those things.
Only women's sports leagues discriminate with respect to sex. Same as competitive chess, amusingly. This extends down to the school levels too, where a girl that wants to play a sport with only a boys team must be allowed to try out and make the team if she can perform at the requisite level but a boy wanting to play a sport with only a girls team is simply SOL as according to Title IX policy the former is sex discrimination but the latter is not.
The existence of women's sports is a form of protectionism.
Fuck the centuries of sexist tradition around sports. Just because it’s the way things have been, doesn’t mean it’s the way it ought to be. I’m sick and tired of the sexism and sexist apologia. If you think women deserve less, I don’t care what your excuse is, especially if your excuse is “the free market”. smh…
Professional sports is only sustainable if the athletes are paid less than the total amount of revenue less the costs of equipment, facilities, etc. In the case of the WNBA, their regular revenue is something like 1/50th of the NBA, and the NBA additionally pays about $15 million per year as a subsidy to help keep them afloat.
Dare I ask which border? Like are we talking South Point OH, Marietta OH, somewhere like Ashland KY or on the VA or MA borders?
Healthcare is Threat.
I mean supposedly MAID gets suggested or even approved way too often in Canada according to some media, so yeah? Kinda? Maybe?
Tobe fair, MAID does reduce future medical costs per patient more than most other treatments, so there is that.
Literally same thing. The largest exports for WV are coal, timber and natural gas.
WV had been consistently blue for most of state history, and the reasons for that were very much tied up in the labor movement, especially as regards unionizing coal mines. Support for Democrats in WV extended outward from the unions, especially the mine unions. And WV put up with some positions it broadly wasn't fond of from Dems because of the unions (like the gun stuff).
Gore's "focus on climate" was the start of the Dems being actively hostile to coal, and to a lesser extent natural gas and timber. It's hard to keep most of your support coming from the union when you're attacking the industry the union represents.
Hillary Clinton at least came up with an alternative plan but it both wasn't very good and was sold in about the worst way possible. "I'm going to put a bunch of coal companies and coal miners out of business" was the single most heard Hillary Clinton quote in WV leading up to the election - it was at the heart of every ad for every GOP politician from Trump all the way down ballot. She did worse in the general here than she did in the primary, and she only got 35% in the primary, narrowly winning the state over Bernie Sanders at 53%.
Interestingly enough, WV used to be a safe blue state for most of the state's history. Literally Gore ruined that.
Because they weren't blue due to progressive social policy, they were blue because of the unions. Gore went after the biggest union industries in the state, and no Dem since has thought how to fix it.
Of all people, Bernie did really well in the 2016 primary, but since Clinton got ~35% compared to Bernie's ~53% she of course got a majority of our state's delegates (by one).
If you wanted to get a Dem to poll well here, you'd have to drop the gun stuff almost entirely (a lot of rural folks and a lot of hunters, a lot of woods full of wild animals [and those woods are directly adjacent to most populated areas - the entire state is forested mountains], etc), not lead with the progressive social justice stuff (not denounce it, not ignore it, just not treat it as the top priority and focus of your message - it's there but it's not what you're selling yourself on), and then double down on working class concerns (this should be what you lead with and emphasize). Think something adjacent to social populism.
Yeah, all the people bitching about Manchin never seem to get that the choice was always Manchin or a far right Republican, not Manchin or a west coast progressive.
You lost the ability to get anyone left of Manchin out of WV in 2000.
Easily the single best description of American politics.
Right, but that's not related to these emails as far as anyone knows.
If I recall that case was dismissed without prejudice, which means they can fix the bullshit issue Judge Cannon came up with to delay things, re-indict him and ideally convict his ass. Can't use executive privilege as a defense (no matter how strained) for shit you do after you leave office. That'll kick up a mountain of idiots on Xitter screaming about "double jeopardy" despite not knowing how any of that works though.
Assuming of course he doesn't get reelected and pardon himself or some equally absurd bullshit.
Again, Hillary only ever needed 30% of the primary vote to win, and there was already reports of Hillary having an unbeatable lead before the first primary vote was cast, which depressed tuenout. Because the super delegates (who literally exist so the DNC as an organization can put their thumb on the scales in the primaries) linesd up behind Hillary out of the gate. Bernie needed a 70+% supermajority of primary voters to vote for him to win, Clinton only needed one in three.
One of the few things I'll give the GOP credit for is that they hold a mostly fair primary and stick by the results, without the ratfucking the DNC does.
