  • Not the guy you replied to, but "a few dollars" is bullshit. My wife and I owe almost $100k MORE than when we graduated due to interest. And we've made every payment since we graduated in 2010. Our monthly payments don't even cover interest

Pre edit: after I wrote that, I wondered if you realized the person you responded to meant they weren't paying their own loans

  • up until now

Idk as an Ohioan, I've know this guys a piece of work for at least 8 years. No research was required when the pick was made to understand the ramifications. Dudes a Muppet. my first thought was "Trump got his 'yes man' who will do what Pence wouldn't."

  • their trades are public

Up to 45 days after the trade is made.

While not technically insider trading because they don't work for the companies they're trading, they definitely have access to privileged macro economic knowledge

  • That wasn't my point. The point is to not let lack of progress in one area detract from progress in another. I agree that the minimum wage is way too low, but that shouldn't influence an attempt to cap rent increases.

Obviously, both is better, but 1 is still progress and better than 0. If we don't celebrate progress, we'll never get better.

  • I've lost count of the amount of times I've been asked, "you're from Ohio? Why aren't you an Ohio state fan?"

Anecdotally, every bar fight I've almost been in has been with ohio state fans. One was when Marcus mariotta got hurt in the championship game and the bar I was at erupted in cheers and I called them out for being dick heads. The other was when a guy in an Ohio state shirt approached me and told me I needed to, "get my bitch on a leash" referring to my wife.

I actually enjoy watching them play football, their fans just fucking suck so bad

  • The thing I'd like to see more of is people (outside of here) admitting they're voting for Biden even tho he's not ideal. We all know who trump is, and Biden gets a lot of flack, and I think it's going to persuade a lot of people from going out and voting.

People need to know that it's acceptable, encouraged even, to vote for the guy who isn't as bad, even if you don't like him. Just because you don't agree with everything he says or does, you agree with him more than the other guy.

Im in some groups with some trumpers, and I'll throw out memes making fun of trump, then they just say stupid incomprehensible things about Biden and I say "lol good one" and they don't know what the fuck to do

  • Idk if my boss gives me a schedule with unreasonable timelines and deliverables, I tell him, and we talk about it, and we get it fixed. If it keeps happening, I've found new work.

Maybe the medical industry has systematic issues that can't be resolved, but everyone should have some autonomy

  • Fun times ahead!

  • You've made assumptions that I think matter.

many voters see right through that

Yeah but the voters who don't, the voters who can change their mind, are the ones who need that. They're not doing it for the 90% who see through that, they're trying to convince the last 10% to vote for them.

reasonable people choose [better policy] every time

Same thing. They're not going after reasonable people. We've see recently how many people don't care about policy and only care about how the character is displayed

  • The problem is that you can replace him with a better candidate, but that doesn't mean the new candidates chances of winning are better. The DNC has to put up the candidate that gives the best chance of winning, not necessarily the best candidate.

  • And people will go to a school because they're fans of the football team, or send their kids there because they're fans of the team. To act like the sports programs do nothing to help the university, or their athletes is disingenuous
