  • That was ages ago. Each covid infection causes brain damage, each person has had covid 4 to 8 times by now, and older people are hurt the most by covid... So even if the guy was smart 30 years ago, we can't assume he is smart today

  • Oof, what we did in Vietnam to the Vietnamese people was already unbelievably evil and unforgivable, but we even betrayed people that risked everything to help us? Wow.

My heart breaks for all the people who died in that terrible war: the innocent Vietnamese who merely wanted to be free to self determine and also the young boys that the US sent to their death for absolutely no good reason.

  • For me, I hate how socially isolating unemployment is. After being laid off I noticed that friends and family slowly started treating me differently. Most Americans seem to look down on people who are struggling. Which makes sense, if capitalism rewards merit then people who are struggling must be losers who deserve it... Elon Musk has no idea how much suffering and pain he has caused countless people.

  • Isn't Android open source? I like Linux, but I alternate being amazed by Linux and frustrated by how buggy the experience is. Everything on my Android phone / tablet just works effortlessly. But with Linux, it is a crap shoot. My Linux audio drivers kept popping my speakers and it took me hours to figure out the bug. Then when I run wine for a game it randomly thinks it doesn't have enough storage space. Or how Chrome was having memory leaks. Or all the times I have had to use special bash commands or directly edit configuration files

  • At this rate I would support the US being annexed by China. Don't get me wrong, I much rather live in the EU, but the US's two party system is so unbelievably incompetent and broken that even being governed by China would be an improvement over our current genocidal fascist oligarchy (I don't actually want to be annexed by China, I want the US to adopt an actual democracy and to actually do things to help people instead of infinite money for genocide)

  • It's not a threat, it's the reality of how these things go.

Be careful, the government might disagree. If you called a politician or CEO and told them to be careful or the public may give them the Luigi treatment or 1789 French treatment then you would most likely be arrested for threatening violence.

  • The US and Canada haven't fought since 1812. Which European border of a major super power has a longer history of being close allies?

The UK and Scotland shouldn't count because Scotland isn't a sovereign country, they are a state of the UK that has lied about retaining their sovereignty for 500 years (which is why they have to beg England for permission to even hold an independece referendum)

Spain and France shouldn't count because Spain worked with the Nazis in ww2 and wouldn't help France.

  • The "work yourself to death" is a stupid boomer concept. It's a hugely negative aspect of traditional masculinity.

At least for boomers, loyalty was often rewarded with promotions, bonuses, and generous pensions. But these days companies will work you to death and then fire you for a 0.0001% boost to their quarterly profits. They'll fire 10,000 people just so the billionaire shareholders can earn 1% more.

  • Ideally, if the politicians actually believed what they told their votes, then yes, they would do it that way. But... Trump was best friends with Jeffry Epstein. Nearly all the Maga billionaires visited Epstein's island. The Republican party is full of pedos, sex traffickers and Nazis.

  • There was evidence. There are tons of videos of Biden speaking in the 80s and 90s. Compare any of those videos to hin speaking in 2021, 2022, or 2023 and you could very easily tell that his mind had become a pale shadow of what it once was.

  • Yeah, I have a fondness for Norse history but mostly from a sustainability perspective. The people who settled Iceland were incredibly efficient with their resources and I think we could learn a lot from the turf houses they built... But I am about as far left as a person can get. I want open boarders, worker co-ops, the abolishment of billionaires, free college / healthcare, and a slow and steady attempt to pursue communist goals.

  • There's a lot more than the 3 listed above, the ones I listed are militant in their belief that Russia and China are Marxist-Leninist utopias.

    1. Hexbear hates Russia. They call Putin a fascist dictator / capitalist all the time.
    2. No one on Hexbear calls Russia or China a Marxist utopia. Pointing out that the CCP is using their power to build highspeed rail, nuclear energy, tons of public housing, and huge solar projects might seem like glazing, but I think those projects are worthy of praise. If the US built 40000km of highspeed rail, entire cities of public housing, tons of clean nuclear power plants, etc then I would be overjoyed to praise my country for doing something good.
    3. Supporting genocide is true tankieism. Anyone who isn't critical of the US's funding of genocide or the military industrial complex are the true tankies.
  • Same. I hate how dishonest liberal politicians are in how they pretend to care about the working class while secretly serving the donor class, but at the end of the day, if a liberal is the farthest left option I am given then that is what I will vote for. I would vote for Pete just like I voted for Hillary and Kamala
