Some would counter that 3rd parties have been manipulating google search results, and that is true, but it overlooks the fact that Google is largely responsible for incentivizing that kind of behavior. Google is an advertising company that has a search engine and they pay sites to host their ads because on site traffic so those sites in turn try to manipulate google search results to increase their traffic.
That might be the most jaded take on open source I have ever seen. Yes, sometimes open source devs ignore user feedback and it can be frustrating, but it is 100% volunteer work and they don't have any power over us because no one is forcing you to engage in digital communism by using open source projects. We have to remember that open source devs are building what they need and want and then sharing that with us for free.
I strongly believe that the truly power hungry individuals go into middle management at a for-profit where they have real power over others. There they hold your career in their hands and they know it. They can fire anyone they dislike and they often do. Destroying careers on a whim is infinitely more tyrannical than any open source dev could ever be.
I feel I am getting rejected by positions that are way below my qualifications.
Also below your pay grade, that's most likely why.
You're not wrong, but it is almost comical how stupid this situation has become: new grads aren't allowed to work because they don't have experience, but experts are also being denied work because they have too much experience??? It makes no storming sense.
Car dependency has created a world that forces children to live online since they can't do anything outside without their parents driving them around. So I just don't see how banning TikTok does anything to address the root problem. Banning Tiktok does nothing to solve the root issue of lacking 3rd places and community.
Also, kid killing giant SUVs and pickups would require a commercial license to own and operate. The US has 10x the vehicle fatality rate of other developed countries because the US doesn't actually (consistently) respect life and doesn't value safety.
US voters are never given the chance to vote for non-capitalist candidates. But this year we actually have a socialist in the running which is why I am voting for Claudia de la Cruz this year.
America is so different from when I was a child. Late stage capitalism is destroying our once great national like a malignant brain tumor and it is painful to watch
I am pretty sure working from home has proven to be more productive, so I think other factors are at play here. I worry that returning to the office might be the only way to keep the capitalists from trying to send our jobs over to poorer nations. If the tapeworms think the job needs to be done face to face then it is much hardet to send those jobs to India or S. America.
I really think that Germany has too much power over EU. Does this make me racist with Germans?
Doesn't Germany have the largest population of all EU countries? It makes sense that the country with the largest population and largest economy might also have more influence than lower population countries.
Everything the US does starts to make sense when you realize the US government is fully owned by lobbyists and wealthy donors. The Military Industrial Complex is a trillion dollar for-profit industry with the deepest pockets in the world. The capitalists who profit from it effectively own our country.
Do German CS programs offer mentorship where professors will actually give you feedback on how your code could be improved? My US CS program offered nothing of the sort. As long as the program worked I got full credit, but now I am worried I might have developed bad practices / habits.
I hate to admit this... But, I am a CS grad from a good US university and my CS program never taught us how to use tools like valgrind either. Our projects were graded entirely based on if they worked and how neat the code looked at a glance.
I would agree that writing does nothing, they probably throw it away without even reading it, but talking to real people who actually want to improve things (like political assistants) can make a difference.
Be sure to call a few government reps and speak your mind. Try to do it by asking questions. If you can turn a few aides against the system it can have a snowball effect bc those are people who are young and passionate about politics
Yeah, Congress blocking affordable Chinese EVs completely betrays their messaging about EVs. It is clear they don't care about the planet, EVs are just another opportunity to transfer public funds to the donor class (billionaires)
On the bright side, Republicans destroying the country with fascism might be the fastest path for the US to finally adopt a modern multiparty proportional representative democracy.
The way capitalism ignored medical science to poison multiple generations with lead, and now is doing the same thing with plastics has completed soured me on capitalism. It is truly a disgusting and irredeemable system where the greed of a few outweigh the needs of everyone else.
