  • Most of Reagan's agenda came from the heritage foundation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eeCPRD0Hgg&t=0

The capital class controls the heritage foundation and through their countless think tanks, lobbyist, donations, SuperPACs, etc they control the Republican party and even a large part of the Democratic party.

Marx was correct when he argued that economic democracy was necessary for political democracy. When the wealthy get to own the economy they have the entire country by the balls.

  • I think the biggest problem by far is the wealth disparity: the wealthy are pouring billions into pushing right wing propaganda, think tanks, and lobbying every year. Liberalism and Social Democracy has no answer to the rich using their wealth to blast people with endless propaganda and disinformation.

I really wish there were a peaceful path forward, but I am becoming increasingly convinced that nothing will ever improve until we, the people, overthrow the billionaire class. But that will probably not happen until it is too late

  • I would like to add that having free and fair elections isn't enough to be a democracy. A democracy, by definition, is simple majority rule in which the government represents the will and interests of the people. Paid propaganda, paid lobbying, SuperPACs, the existence of a donor class, etc all betray the ideals of what democracy represents. Any government that ceases to represent the interests and will of the people ceases to be a democracy, regardless of how fair and free their elections may seem.

  • They'll brand the DSA and socialists like Hasan as terrorists first. Then once they have purged the country of leftist leadership and leftist organizations then they will come for left leaning groups like NPR if and only if NPR refuses to bend the knee.

Morning Joe from MSNBC has already bent the knee. More will follow once Trump makes an example out of his critics.

  • What a tragedy. >I feel terrible for these people! My former roommate knew a girl in high school who died from methanol poisoning at a party after some kids found a bottle in somebody’s garage. It’s really terrible.

On a related note, I am struggling to understand why the US still denatures alcohol to intentionally make it fatal for teens. Other countries require that denatured alcohol be dyed and to have terrible bitter flavors added so that it can't be accidentally confused with a strong liquor. Hell, the Soviets even required this.

  • "where were the parents"

Oooh, that grinds my gears. We all know helicopter parenting is harmful for children, but people freak out whenever kids are outside without a helicopter parent. It reminds me of the mother who was arrested for letting their 10 year old be outside unsupervised (cops said it wasn't safe for the kid to be outside on their own)

  • He ran as someone who would bring together Blue America and Red America in the spirit of bipartisanship.

I really liked Obama in 2008, but his Presidency was unbelievably disappointing and hope crushing. He didn't end the wars or give us universal healthcare, he didn't tax the rich or give us the right to unionize without fearing for our jobs... also, Republicans hated Obama so much that the party elected Trump in 2016! So Obama's "lie about being a progressive then pivot to centrist bipartisan bullshit" was absolutely a colossal failure.

  • Tesla has faced criticism in the past for the design of its manual release levers, which are considered poorly designed and unintuitively placed

Calling it poorly designed is a massive understatement. The manual release is a wire that is hidden behind a hidden panel. A guy made a video showing how to do it and he struggled to do it despite having practiced a few times in advance. The chance of pulling it off while the car was on fire would be very, very low

  • If I were a narcissist like Trump then I would love to be the President: I could set up all my family and friends with 7 figure jobs, I'd buy a hotel and then force the SS to rent out the entire building at 10x the normal rates, I could spend most of my time golfing, I could chat with my buddy Putin on the phone every day, etc.

Are there shitty parts to the job? Sure, but is it better than being a powerless wage slave to a soulless corporation? Absolutely yes.
