  • But as other people have said, some software only works on other systems.

For most of the general tasks that people have traditionally used computers for, it seems that most people nowadays generally just use their phone. Usually when anyone decides to use an actual computer for something, it's because they have a task that requires them to use some specific piece of software, and that software is unfortunately often only available on Windows/macOS.

  • How? I couldn't get it to work.

    1. How is this different from how gold currently works?
    2. What is that about a $50 upvote?
  • I'm going with yet. They do mention an F-Droid build on GitLab.

    There are four build flavors:

    • dev - for development, includes Play Store billing and all payment methods, auto-update, etc
    • playStore - Play Store build, does not include auto-update and only includes Play Store billing
    • standalone - does not include Play Store billing library, includes auto-update
    • fDroid - does not include Play Store billing nor auto-update
  • I wish they would make Wii Sports for standard controllers.

  • EWH is actually pretty well done

  • You're holding it wrong

  • You mean Flash? That iOS refused to support?

  • I never get why people here misspell "human" as "hooman". That's not the syllable that they mispronounce.

  • I imagine unless you're self employed, you are probably given a machine to work on with a predefined operating system picked by your employer.

And it's all managed by the IT department. I use Linux on all my personal devices, but on my work computer, I don't deal with ads, bloatware, or most other things that people complain about Windows because IT took care of that already through group policy and whatnot.

  • They are talking about what the Pi 3/4 prices were. All that is mentioned about Pi 5 prices in the article is for 4GB/8GB.

  • What should I look for in a thin client if I want to prioritize low power consumption?

  • That's the biggest issue I can think of. You can only water so many plants, chop so many trees, and pick so many rocks in the mine before you run out of stamina. I've had plenty of times where I would go to bed at 2 PM because there was nothing else for me to do. Having eight characters means 8x the stamina, so you can do 8x more work per day. But even for the things that do not require stamina, there are only so many items for forage, so many villagers to talk to, etc.

  • Can I transfer books though SFTP or something, or just USB?

  • Those are glorifies apps that you install on top of the default OS

  • Especially early in the game, there's really only so much to do each day.
