  • I picked up plants when I got depressed. Not only are they cool, but it is nice seeing something grow and nurtured. Plus, I learned that there isn't enough sunlight in my home which contributed to my depression.

The only thing I recommend is not to get a hard starter plant like calathea/goeppertia but like a spider plant. Really cool seeing them explode with growth!

  • That's not true. We have on record oil and gas companies having studied and internal communication they know climate change is coming. Yacht, private jets, and cruises cause a majority of carbon emmissions. Billionaires are the ones who have yachts and jets and a billionaire owns cruise companies. Musk is the most prominent, but other car manufacturers have lobbied against the building of public transportation.

We know there is a disproportionate amount of pollution coming from companies. I think we all do need to play a part, but if you want actual meaningful and quick change it needs to come from these companies. You know, these companies that were ruled as "people". These companies like Amazon who have more money and power than small countries. It's on these "people" to lead us into clean emissions but they aren't.

  • Can Twitter afford it? They don't have any accountants anymore and they may be the ones who will go in the shitter against a lengthy trial. Their ad incentive program had like only 5 mil available and Musk became neutered the moment he had to pay 100 million to the disabled guy he was about to fire.

  • Reposts aren't just because of karma whoring. It can be a crosspost or someone saw it and just thought it was funny and wanted to share it to a community they liked.

You may also be one of the first 10,000 today too.

  • I think he is just saying people shouldn't doom post. I think there is a fine line because a lot of zoomers i interact with are hopeless and have given up. This is a generation who never experienced a functional (American) government who worked for the people. So they just don't care and you can see it reflected in their memes.

I don't know the rhetorical path we should take. We need to get people motivated and fired up but not apathetic and despairing. I mostly want to see politicians crumble and the rich eaten and i think that's messaging many will get behind.

  • It's also the fascism they support. They are all okay with "communist" China and Russia and I have met too many tankies who unironically support North Korea. Such a joke.

Tankies just use leftist populism as a facade, like how the Nazis did, but deep down their values don't align with actual communists and anarchists.

  • Because Twitter is something many people use and is part of our lives. The terms tweet and retweet is in our lexicon and a lot of breaking news appear on twitter. It's clearly important to us and as evidenced by Mastodon, Blue Sky, and Threads, we humans want a form of twitter. I agree and it has some utilitarian use. There's something "internety" about short blips of info with quick vids if necessary that anyone can access.

It may not seem important, but with Google trying to push DRM browsing, their search algo shitting itself, reddit crapping itself, Youtube being Youtube, etc. the old internet as we knew it is dying. The old internet being the free one we knew that wasn't centralized, full of forums, and felt a different kind of alive. I think that's why the news for Twitter is important.

Now, do we need to know about the people complaining about the X sign? Maybe not, i kind of don't think so, but it is nice to have a record of it for future reference. It most likely didn't need to reach my all/local page but people upvoted it.
