  • Yeah... Believe me I am not keen on it, fuck meta

  • We're trying to get protection from discrimination and vilification while securing everyone's right to gender affirming care. The Queensland government recently suspended it for minors and a federal review into gender affirming care was announced, in other countries this has lead to an increase in violence and scrutiny of people who just want to live peacefully.

If you've decided anarchy is deranged then I can't convince you of why any of those points are important, but I will say that it's simply that we recognise that our struggles are all bound up together, the intersectional approach is the only right one.

  • Lancaster Pennsylvania, lots of folk punk stuff going on over there and LNL is throwing another folk punk flea market in late June.

  • I think you've hit the nail on the head. I've been trying to learn to write lyrics for the last year or so, and the one thing I know for sure about creativity is that it's not a switch.

Ideas come to me walking down the street and I have to jot them down for later. If I want to come up with something new on the spot, I just start singing without thinking about it and usually something good eventually falls out of my mouth.

Zack Freedman has a great video on training yourself to be creative: https://youtu.be/6r8-o2WpoCA

  • The phrase "we aren't free until we're all free" applies to animals as much as humans, and thinking otherwise is straight up bigotry. That so few extend leftist thought to the rest of the living world is a travesty, if you've managed to come around to leftist thinking then you've absolutely been capable of challenging your pre-conceived biases and this is just another step in that process.

All that said, I'm not one to judge people for not agreeing with this. It took me an exceptionally long time and the right circumstances to finally reassess my reasoning and to realise it was absurdly flawed, hypocritical and informed by propaganda.

  • I'm just another shitty guitarist with bigger dreams than sense, but it's very fun. Thanks for the encouragement!

  • Get good enough to play a show, honestly it would be equally as satisfying just to play my songs for friends in a park or something.

  • Well I'm being a little deceptive for the joke of course, but he just felt like Jesus was sitting in the chair and then talked to the invisible Jesus.

The guy ended up doing a bunch of stuff at my highschool and which really bugged me because he only ever had surface level religious phrases to say (motivational speaker kinda stuff but with more Jesus) that glossed over some really big issues we were all facing at the time.

  • Ah yeah "all atheists just hate god," I forgot that was a thing. Could be the case, it was a long time ago

  • I once met a guy who became a priest because he had a religious experience while talking to a chair.

The weirdest one I ever got was in highschool, someone said "how can you not believe in god, god is love" and I still don't understand how that's meant to be an argument.

  • It would be easier and faster to just train it on the stuff you want it to output. There are hundreds of billions of weights in models like gpt, and no one really knows what any individual one does.

  • I fucked up the inside of my lip at a show and it's making me fucking miserable. I hate having to swallow half a tube of medijel just to eat...

While I'm here, if you're a decent person and want to help protect trans rights in Australia after the Qld government decided to fuck over trans kids, come to the state library at 10am this Saturday.

Link here, should include events in other cities.

  • We're both at the same time

  • I'm probably not exactly what you're looking for, but I went from considering suicide after I was diagnosed with an incurable disability that turned my life into an existence of pain, with next to no medical support or advice beyond "do yoga about it" to doing suprisingly well in life. I was also depressed before all of that, a shitty person and still trying to escape a really awful person in my life.

I turned it around gradually, but the two biggest things were getting the right meds (and being absurdly lucky to be one of the rare few who respond to it at all) and starting with a psychologist. Years of dealing with trauma and learning to accept and change the bad parts of myself eventually led to reading leftist theory, becoming an anarchist and meeting some incredible people. At some point in that journey I got on HRT and that did wonders for the worst of my depression too.

I'm at a point where I don't think I resemble the person I was two or three years ago one bit. I used to deal with all the bad shit going on in the world by just trying to ignore it and only caring about myself and those close to me, but actively trying to improve the world is infinitely better.

  • I absolutely agree, getting your Ls should involve a short course and test like it does for motorbikes. Just scanning the road and looking out for danger properly is a whole skill that people need to be taught.

I'd say the biggest thing we can really do for road safety is to just reduce car numbers, so of course more trains and a bunch of HSR between the cities. Going 130 can reduce your travel time by a tiny amount, but going 250-300 on one of the safest modes of travel is something else entirely.

  • Trans inclusive radical misogyny

Personally I don't, I can see someone not hating that kind of humour as much as me thinking it's funny, in which case I guess it would be.
