  • Yup. Nothing is worth deciding someone else should get bullied for your decisions. People don't work retail because they want to deal with culture war problems.

This isnt life or death. It's selling rainbow themed products.

  • I used to believe this too. I was corrected and informed that if it collected as a donation it is not the company making the donation and they can not gain tax benefits from it. They also aren't paying a sales tax on that money either.

The benefit is exclusively the good PR from arranging the donation, which to be fair, they did. If the donation came through a credit card they may have covered the ~3% transaction fee, although they could potentially write that off for the portion that the donation increased the fee by.

  • Yes this is how sovereignty is maintained. This duality is why other members of the international community can refuse to follow ICC declarations one year and support the other years.

The United States doesn't release that control willingly. Others would have to make them if they feel it's that important.

Until someone can take that authority, they retain it.

  • They might have been able to but they didn't, and they didn't get sent to them by all the other doctors that saw them.

Because chiropractors don't work within the medical system and are reckless enough to take action without playing "20 ways to cover your ass" before they are willing to act, you sometimes get stories like this.

I've met chiropractors with above average medical knowledge for your typical mall worker. Being able to afford and use an x-ray machine implies more effort than any chiropractors I've met as well. But yeah, if you are gonna kill yourself or you are having a movement related issue and are unable to get doctors to treat you, they aren't that bad.

  • I've been ready for armed militant women to storm offices around the nation for a while now. I'll probably keep waiting though.

Violent people only understand violence. They will mock you and call your morals evil while they lock you up and murder you. Gathering in protest will never stop the religious right.... never.

  • It's situational. When he's acting like a child it's fun to bring a little levity to the conversation and mock "strong man" politicians. Treating him like a petulant child When he whines about fairness etc. Doesn't take away from the genocide of it all. I think we're intelligent enough to not get lost in the nuance.

  • I assume most things advertised in apps and websites to be low quality or scammy. I hate advertising enough that I actually avoid any large company that throws ads in my face because I assume they can no longer rely on their reputations and arr no longer the value they were when they rose to prominence.

  • I mean yeah... if he had a solution they would be actually have the revolutionary AI tool the tech writers write about.

It's kinda written like a "gotcha" but it's really the fundamental problem with AI. We call it hallucinations now but a few years ago we just called it being wrong or returning bad results.

It's like saying we have teleportation working in that we can vaporize you on the spot but are just struggling to reconstruct you elsewhere. "It's halfway there!"

Until the AI is trustworthy enough to not require fact checking it afterwards it's just a toy.

  • Facial recognition still struggles with really bad mistakes that are always bad optics for the business that uses it. I'm amazed anyone is still willing to use it in its current form.

It's been the norm that these systems can't tell the difference between people of dark pigmentation if it even acknowledges it's seeing a person at all.

Running a system with a decade long history or racist looking mistakes is bonkers in the current climate.
