  • I've cancelled tomorrow.

  • I woke in sweats last night. Odd for a cold night. Less odd now that my throat has been getting progressively worse since about midday. Aside from vitamin C, garlic and a hot toddy, anyone got any pre-cold advice?

  • Ohh. Just got an invite to a low key winter solstice bush doof next weekend. It'll both be really cold and I'll still be in my post-surgical light-duties window. I've also got a get together wake on for a guy I use to work with and it'd be great to catch up with the old workmates. I could also stay inside and continue being a warm winter goblin.

  • You do you. I was a night owl for years. These days I'm wondering how to stay up until at least 9pm so I don't wake up at 3am well rested.

  • That looks like what I eat... With fajitas.

  • I hear that if you're buying plain spectacles, eg not tinted or multifocal, zenni online is pretty cheap, you just need to get a copy of kids prescription. e: and pay and wait n stuff.

  • Back in the 90s phones used Windows CE, which appropriately abbreviated to WinCE. Fuck that OS, worse than Vista/ME.

  • That's the key point I reckon "if coding is your thing" many people are trying to learn a complex thing they have no interest in.

  • That's some bullshit. Do you not have a regular computer to act as a middle man?

  • I've peer reviewed your research and am able to reproduce the results.

  • I support The Void, and just the black one, not the edge lord one with demon faces in it.

  • Do you not plug the old phone into the new one and it copies it across? That's what my pixels have done.

  • I've got some more:

Wind back private health insurance. It leaches money from the population while providing worse health outcomes. The finance side has lobbyists to encourage the government to lean toward private health and away from public services. Private health at the very top, is just money and bankers, so when the global finance system shifts ever so slightly one way or another, entire branches of our health care services come under fire.

Microtransit. Lean on states to regulate eBikes and eScooters with some reasonable legislation. Improve micortransit freeways around the cities and frankly through the country as well.

Fast trains for transit and freight.

Remove mutual obligations from centrelink payments effectively making it a soft UBI. If people want to work they will or at least will try to. If they don't want to work they wont. It's a waste of money to try to punish people who don't want to work.

Buy back our god dam services. Telco, utilities, government departments (eg, vicroads), public transport.

Manufacturing. How much fucking raw ore do we ship overseas? At least process that here into iron, steel, etc.

That Norway citizens fund thing that Whitlam got shafted over, do that.

Build commie blocks for housing in every major city on top of train stations. 1-3 br apartments, with services on the ground floors.

  • Yeah, what you do in your sleep isn't really your fault. Don't let this weigh too heavily on you. Consider therapy, or meditation or sleep health stuff because screaming from sleep is an issue that you're responsible for but not at fault for, if that makes sense.

  • There will be no change. Punching down at welfare recipients is so ingrained in Australian politics it'll never go away. If Albo tries it'll be the perfect campaign basis for the Libs, your tax money given free, to blue haired dole bludgers that want to turn your kids trans.

  • All her life my Aunt looked like she was on top of her business. Owned multiple houses around the world, travelled regularly, lived in the inner city of a top tier European city. She was found dead at home in her 70s. As the finances were unwound to deal with her estate, she's flat broke, everything was loans on loans, her sister who rented one of her apartments is set to lose her housing. One of my family members commented "I thought she was good at business", I replied that she was, she died without ever having to clean up the mess she made, her finances were a disaster and now they're someone else's problem.
