  • This conversation already came up during the pandemic. It's super clear why countries should have some level of ability to produce essentials for its people.

It was also the time when conservatives started to doubled down on pretending to be libertarians and told their supporters the mega corps will take care of everything as long as we give them enough power.

  • For the Adblock users portion I'm merely saying if people didn't want to see ads because it diminished their web browsing experience the user generated content could be handled the same.

Even going away from the misinformation discussion some people are just cunts and provide little value to begin with. So I'm happy to be done with them at least on the internet.

  • I don't mind blocking them as something to do today but society really needs to figure out what they want to do with this stuff long term.

From a user level I believe having a Adblock type shared lists that block crappy accounts like the one circulates this stuff would be pretty nice.

  • As things stand I'll generally tolerate those people assuming they're on the right side of things now(e.g. not voting for people with Trump ideology). Certainly seems like we need the support.

They should understand trust is a lot easier to lose than to earn.

  • Eby looking east, rather than south, for future power sales.

Danielle Smith is going to be in Florida at the end of the month to fundraise for a American right wing media company. Placing to much faith in Alberta seems like a bad idea.

  • Post Media article. Seems to be a rising amount of these here.

It is a topic exclusively reported from the article author and I don't see anything questionable within the contents although I'm not familiar with the topic.

  • He says he was puzzled that the party had deemed him “unworthy” or “unqualified” to run for the party in a community he’d served provincially for three decades

His previous tenure is exactly why I don't think this guy should ever have a government position of any kind again.

  • Yes that's what I was getting at.

It's actually kinda amazing he seems to have never gotten into the whole "wokeism" thing Pierre and Rustad still peddles to this day as one of society's greatest issues. Although I'm glad Pierre is to dumb to stfu with the idiotic rhetoric.

  • As someone from BC I have a question.

While Ford is undoubtedly and maybe the best embodiment of a greasy Conservative he's also seemingly kept his nose rather clean to the crazy right wing stuff Rustad and Danielle Smith not only supports but can't seem to stop talking about.

For example them are loud supporter of the Convoy stuff while Ford didn't act when his provinces was one of the worst impacted ones along with his son in law being ass deep in that stuff.

  • The problem is that many decades of neoliberalism has led people to be so desperate they think facism is a solution.

If Carney continues to do what the Liberals and Conservative has done for a long time now the next thing people go will be much uglier.

  • Did anyone else read the entire article and feel like the title should be: "How bad Canadian have it compared to the Dutch and the Danes"

There really isn't much of solution that is implied in the title the we can learn or copy from them aside from the team approach which we've already started to implement.

  • It can be some of the news but not all the news.

I don't believe there's something magical about CBC where they couldn't be contorted to favour whatever Conservatives want. In itself they've been trying make Trump and other Conservatives look sane for years now.

The only reason why Peirre wants them gone is because Postmedia does it for free. At least until whoever funds them decides otherwise.

  • Given the current news revenue models I don't think it's possible for large scale outlets to be anything but paid adverts in guise of the news. The Conservative mantra of deregulation is also going to make things worse.

Ultimately someone will need to come up with something that pays people to deliver accurate news.
