Ah, thats good to know. I also saw a blog post for a way to use it without the App by using a modded App APK on Android were you can extract the auth-Key... but that was way to complicated. I wish there were an open standard for digital watches to enable sync of data with the OS of choice without going through a proprietary app. I will look into the RPI Solution. Thanks.

The latest 7 looks very nice. 16 days battery life, 5 days with always-on apparently.... sadly if you want to pair it with your phone, you need the Xiaomi App and then (as OP asked) you get trapped in privacy Hell and send all your data (Health, Location, User Content, Financial Information, Contact Info and identifiers) to china. At least on iOS as I can read in the App-Store description. Bummer. It looks like a nice watch.

Same with Narwhal. They released some days ago their 2.0 App and already mentioned that in a couple of weeks the payment will start. The crazy part (besides the astronomical price) is that you pay for each API request. So every time you upvote, you make an API request and have to pay for it. YOU, the user, gonna pay for GIVING Reddit your engagement. That is crazy. Every Social Media plattform is trying too squeeze out as much engagement as possible from their userbase and now the user has to pay for it too. At this point, the best thing would be to deactive your your up/downvote buttons and comment buttons, to ease on the API requests. The the exact contrary of what the plattforms wants you for. I deleted the App after a decade of usage the same day. Reddit got everything from me. Engagement, Comments and my whole leaning on political and cultural topics based on my votes and comments to build a profile. Now they get nothing out of me. Fuck you Spez.

Old female demography. Mostly uneducated (only school, no further education), mostly russian TV watching groups eating up russian propaganda and misinformation about fear of EU, Immigrants and LGBT. You can pick any country in east europe from poland to the south balkan, the russian misinformation is very effective pandering the non-existing "great replacement", a lie that russia is pushing that the EU want to replace the citiziens of each country with a different ethnicity. Why? Doesn't matter, fear is not rational. At the same time russia is bringing young people from syria (a region they themself keep destabilized to create desperate masses to flee into Europe) to Moscovia with fake letters of free University Invites and then pack these people up in busses and brings them through Belarus to the outer borders of the EU countries to increase the stories, pictures and scenes of mass immigration to prop up the talking point of the far right in all these countries. It is very effective and people who only watch russian TV will never see the grand scheme and will vote hard right, against their own good.

Do Republicans know the story about the king who had no clothes on? Do they understand what it is about and how it is a metaphor? Do they know the word metaphor? Who am I kidding....

I rewatched the Video after all these years and have to say: In some aspects it aged like milk. For example 6:11 "The word here is 'tend'. Liberals are still capitalist and conservatives still stand for democracy". Are they? The Conservatives love for democracy is eroding hard. Fascism is really tightly bonded to the "conservatives" of today. Being a nazi, wanting a dictator or at least an authoritarian leader like Putin seems pretty popular in the conservative mindset.
