  • Write it down for now so you do not lose the memory if it is so precious to you. Maybe it will be even better the next time coding it. I think many coders have a "loose copy" or a "code gist" of previous versions of their favorites codes around. I never created a code that I framed and hanged on my wall, but some came close. I would not publish it under your real name any time soon. At least not as long as you work in that company +1-2y. If you choose to publish it in the next 6 month under a very different name, in another account, with another repo name, because you love FOSS so much, and it looks different to the original code in format and style (and the presentation of data = frontend), then I see no problem. Just two guys having a similar idea. Not a lawyer though.

  • I can recommend his whole channel. The scenery shots from the train-waggons of those far and vast regions of east russia are stunningly beautiful. Sometimes it looks like Canada or America in the 1850s. Imagine the potential this country had. They could have build Holiday Resorts and offer Adventure Tours for tourists. They could have build ski-resorts and curvy roads that people would love to take their camper van to. They could basically be Canada2 with those beauty, resources and distanced remoteness. But they did not become Canada2, they chose to become North Korea 2. What a missed opportunity for a country. They have everything, but they let it all go away for hate. Imagine what a democratic leader in 2000 could have done to this country. Instead what they got was 14 years of authoritarian rule that then attacked the ukraine in 2014. And again in 2022. What a loser of a leader. He could have turned that country around and just decided to not do it. I would be loathing as a citizen about a leader like that, that pissed away the future of my country like that.

  • There is a russian Youtuber, who is mostly know for his (illigal) train ridings across the russian+kasacz regions. Lately in one of his video, he again hitchhiked the finish-russian border region and talked to another russian in a car. He first is talking about how they lost a lot of jobs inside russia, then calls the finns stupid, says that actually russia cut them off from the power grid, so they do net get any more power from russia and that finnalnd should "go join nato, live under nato control, you think life will be sweet but it wont [...] now they are in the arse". That scene really stuck with me. They do not recognize any loss, they are stubborn and olympic mind athlets. Never admit being wrong. No words of conciliatoriness.

  • Yo, britonians, shits on fire. You should do something about your PM. How is it you eat every punch the tories are launching. You should maybe take back your sovereignty. But this time actually for real.

  • You think you deserve to lose to trump and a shadow campaign of foreign actions that brainwashed half of your boomers, who were new to social media and whatsapp forwards, into thinking and believing in short incomplex solutions to big and complex topics?

Why do you deserve that? I would say you have a point if you vote for an ass out of free will, but there was a concerted effort by foreign powers that want to see the US on their knees. The PRC assumed that the US would be in shambles by the mid 20s because of culture wars and race wars. They actively amplified this prophecy by sending the right tictocs to the young and the right targeted memes to your uncle. Your uncle is too stupid to come up with funny memes like he is too stupid to grasp complex geopolitical scenarios. He most possibly believed that horse-dewormer and a uv-light torchlight his ass cure CoVID. If it even exists. But all that he learned from foreign misinformation and was amplified by the inept president that needs pictures and sharpies.

There are many stupid people in the world. But there are also guillable people that need only a poke from a foreign power to flip against their own interest if the poke is a meme and the meme is telling him that he is right in being a racist as es is too stupid to spell emphaty.

  • They have all gone up in price:

The most marked increase is in the overall Apple One bundle. Its lowest, or individual tier, used to cost $16.95 per month but as of now, it is $19.95 per month.

Similarly, the Family Apple One tier has risen from $22.95/month to $25.95/month. And the Premier tier is now up from $32.95 to $37.95.

The price rise for Apple One comes at the same time as increases for many of its major constituent services.

    Apple TV+ was $6.99/month, now $9.99 Apple News+ was $9.99/month, now $12.99 Apple Arcade was $4.99/month, now $6.99

  • And it is free to stream! (2015) And it is only 2.99 $ (2018) And it’s only 4.99! (2020) And it’s only 10.99! (2023)

We went from free to 132$ in 8 years for (check notes) listening to the radio.

Is everyone cool with paying 20$ a month in 2028?

  • The Video-Industry behaves just like the Music-Industry. They constantly throw dirt at the wall and look for what is sticking to it. If they find something that sticks, they throw further dirt at this point until the whole blob falls down and they start over. The saw what sticks to customers when it comes to price-hikes and now throw everything after this to see how long it will stick. Vote with your wallet.

  • With a psychopathic liar as a father, making their own children complicit in their crime family, there was zero chance these boys grew straight in life. They had to adapt at an early stage to the crooked business their father did, that they had to accept this/his lifestyle as their own. To tame their cognitive dissidence they adopted and copied their fathers reverse-accusion game and the no-you-mentally, to not drown in their own lies that they are telling and got told by others - outside and inside of their own family. Trump once told in an interview how he cries to get what he wants and the first reaction to every accusation is a to deny everything. No concept of plausible deniability or any coherent structure needed. The blatant and loudness will make up for substance. They did not feel any accountability yet ever for this behaviour. Psychopathic behavior is a trait for them.

  • Interesting. In the latest Amp Hour Podcast Episode about RPi, Chris Gammell asked about the ARM-Connection and if there are any ideas about going the RISC way one day. James Adams and Liam Fraser answered very diplomatic (like "good Architecture, exciting, but we know arm and their benefits too well"). I guess there is now no open path anymore for RPi ever going down that road.

  • What is my proposed solution to the nuclear bomb threat? The middle east conflict? The inequality of rich vs. poor? What do you expect from me? That I write a 5 liner about NK being a proxy of china and then also in 5 additional lines solve that problem? You know, things are complex and I am sure if you give me 10.000 pages, 24 Month and 30 experts with each 10 connections to three letter agencies of 10 different countries, there might be some ways to get something that could be defined as a "way" or "solution" but we are talking about global politics. To just define the player and their positions in this game is too complex for a simple Lemmy post. Let alone the 20 year plan for a "solution". I advice you to read on this topic of publications from the last 30 years. Then you can skip the part about the positions of players in the game and might find that its a equation of a conflict between democratic vs. authoritarian that will play out in the next 30-60 years. The last try by the west to open up china to more democracy by opening the markets did not worked out. Chinese citizen were allowed to open companies and bring goods to western markets while westerns were not able to own companies in china. China pulled up the great firewall, increased surveillance, exporting that surveillance tech to other despots and dictators, tracking citizens even in other countries to suppress their words against that regime in china and is cracking down on freedoms in general even more since Xi got into power. So now the west is looking for another "solution" for the authoritarian threat looming over the world.
