  • “For the aspiring politician there is no better way to get name recognition, build relationships with long-term donors, and to showcase oneself,” the hedge fund manager wrote, pitching the campaign like a business deal. “The risk/reward of running for mayor over the next 132 days is extremely compelling as the cost in time and energy is small and the upside is enormous.”

    Who wants to suck our dicks? Get to the dick sucking now! The chance never has been greater. We need our dicks sucked and will pay handsomely! If we like it, we'll pass you around to suck even more dicks!

  • It really depends on the company. Some look for any way to squeeze you. Others are pretty decent and probably more efficient as they dont waste as many working hours on bullshit claims and claim resolution.

    Also if i rent a car i want things to go smoothly. I got places to be. You make my life easy, ill happily pay again and do my best to make yours easy too.

  • Things cannot go without casualties. But the more people stand up to fight, the less casualties there will be as the prospect of "crushing" the resistance dwindles from the start.

    And people who larp 2A should get a grip that if they claim the armed resistance, they have to take what comes with it.

    On the other hand you see a lot of people still in their liberal fairytale land, where they think that if shit starts delivering the suspected instigator and cozying up with the police would help them defeat fascism. See various posts in the 50501 community.

    Lets be real about it. Fighting as an armed resistance means people will be killed. Not fighting will lead to being killed at much larger scale, as the killers reign freely.

  • The US military lost against the resistance in Vietnam, in Iraq, in Afghanistan...

    There is no way they would win against a properly organized resistance in the US either.

    Problem is people thinking that the guns themselves would safe them from Tyranny, when it is using the guns against the tyrants that is protecting them.

  • Why? Maybe if people understand that what they are scared with to be "communism" is affordable housing, public transport and education and not being harassed by police, they will break out of the propaganda alltogether.

  • In the late 2000s, for instance, rumors circulated about a bunker in Iran struck by a bunker-buster bomb. The bomb had failed to penetrate—and remained embedded in—the surface of the bunker, presumably until the occupants called in a bomb-disposal team. Rather than smashing through the concrete, the bomb had been unexpectedly stopped dead. The reason was not hard to guess: Iran was a leader in the new technology of Ultra High Performance Concrete, or UHPC, and its latest concrete advancements were evidently too much for standard bunker busters.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fordow_Fuel_Enrichment_Plant

    Construction on the facility started in 2006, but the existence of the enrichment plant was only disclosed to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) by Iran on 21 September 2009,[6][7] after the site became known to Western intelligence services. Western officials strongly condemned Iran for not disclosing the site earlier;

    Seems to fall into the same timeframe.

  • In other words:

    Upholding a rules based international order is actually beneficial, also to the West. By undermining the ICC to parade around the genocidal scumbag Netanyahu, countries like the US, Hungary and Germany are hurting themselves as it grants people like Putin more movement and recognition in the world.

    Meanwhile "the global south" has a vested interest in strengthening the ICC and ICJ as these institutions can help bring some balance against the imperial actors who have been suppressing them far too long.

    If someone brings up Mongolia because of Putin having visited there, Mongolia is a landlocked country with 3.5 million people, sandwiched between Russia and China. They have very little diplomatic maneuverability.
