  • Not my idea of a good time either but it was appealing to some people. Cruises are incredibly popular. I'd only go if it were free and I was unable to sell the ticket(s).

  • Yeah that was my first thought. I'm willing to bet the company declares bankruptcy soon.

  • George Carlin was one of the greatest comedians ever.

  • You don't think any American generation did better than the previous one through work?

  • Android powers over 70% of smartphones. If they were to make an app wouldn't it be more efficient (cost v exposure) to make an android app? The website though works on all phones.

  • I agree. I thought it was noteworthy that Cato put Texas last. They are not a neutral news source. But they did put Texas last in personal freedoms.

  • Cato is a very conservative\ libertarian group. The fact that they put Texas last for personal freedom seemed noteworthy to me.

    They are 100% biased.

  • Anarchy as a label and the anarchy symbol are so diversely used it's hard to say what they definitely mean. When I was young I first encountered it as a music symbol and it meant rebel to me or anti-Reagan. I've met and talked to anarchist who say there shouldn't be any form of government at all to people who want a commune-type government to people who want to keep the existing government but want it to be extremely laissez faire. A lot of different people use the label and symbol and claim it for themselves.

  • If I come across as arguing then that's a mistake on my part.

  • But the FBI is staffed by individual people. You can't really expect the entire staff of the FBI to change or reflect the exact opinions of the president? I'm sure there are FBI agents that think this list is just as silly as you and I do.

  • You're free to talk with me or not. You can dismiss me as a neoliberal if you want but that doesn't describe me all at. In our whole conversation I've made primarily two points: (1) anger is neither a good nor productive emotion and (2) while the world has many serious problems, over the decades consistent progress has been made to improve the situation of most of the world's population. Generally, if trends continue the future will be better than the past for a lot of people (the recent uptick in world hunger going against the previous trend of reduced hunger is a counterargument).

  • Worldwide? I don't know. In the US? Yes they've gone up. In the summer prices began to dip but in autumn they rose again. Some towns and cities in California, Texas, Kentucky, Washington state, and Oregon have declined. Most places are holding. It doesn't look like prices will go down in the near future.

    Now my questions:

    • Is housing prices the most important criterion to describe the world as "going to shit?"
    • How does getting angry solve the problem of housing? Or any problem?
    • If getting angry doesn't solve the housing problem what might?
  • Gerrymandering is, in my opinion, one of the most dangerous long-term problems facing the United States.

  • Housing is a serious issue and while nationally prices probably won't be going significantly down there are some places where the price has gone down. Not enough to be sure unfortunately.

I'm not an economist. I'm not sure about world prices. I answered the question the best I can with the knowledge I have.

One definition of neoliberslism is: A political ideology or ideological trend based on neoclassical economics that espouses economic liberalism, favouring trade liberalisation, financial deregulation, a small government, privatisation and liberalisation of government businesses, passive antitrust enforcement, accepting greater economic inequality and disfavouring unionisation.

I don't support any of that.

  • So your only definition of the "world going to shit" is housing prices? I clearly said that there are a lot of problems in the world.

Housing is a serious issue and while nationally prices probably won't be going significantly down there are some places where the price has gone down. Not enough to be sure unfortunately.

How does getting angry solve that problem? How does getting angry solve any problem? If getting angry doesn't solve the problem what might?
