You're putting words in my mouth. I was addressing ksynwa's comment, which was honestly a bit tangential and not entirely related to Ukraine. Offering aid is not occupation, and it's a bit silly that you would imply that.

It's true. Whether you agree with the actions of the US abroad or not, the US did legitimately try to install a free and fair democratic government in Afghanistan. And it was in place for 20 years - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/DemocracyinAfghanistan.

Afghanistan was democratic during US occupation. Unfortunately, that was overthrown by the taliban when the US pulled out.

I thought that too, but now I have a wireless mouse, keyboard, and ear buds and it's amazing. You never have to worry about the slight tension from a cord, or what the cord will bump into. Complete freedom. The battery on my Logitech keyboard lasts about 3 months before it needs to be recharged.

A microwave oven uses orders of magnitude more power than those, though. That said, the amount leaking through the Faraday cage is probably minimal. Still worth getting a modern microwave, they have better interfaces and faster cook times than the old ones.

The sun is in a different direction than Mars though. Both require escaping Earth orbit and and entering solar orbit. From there, to get to Mars you need to raise your orbit relative to the Earth. To get to the sun you need to lower your orbit relative to the earth.
