  • Easement corridor for power lines.

The area where there are always open camping sites in that one national park because no one wants to sleep under the high voltage lines and get cancer.

  • I was up for confirmation, when allegedly the Holy Spirit enters you and you start a more adult phase relationship with God. Post-ceremony, the prep class teacher asked all of us newly confirmed kids if we had felt the holy Spirit enter us. Every single kid but me said yes. It was obvious to me that they were being influenced by each other and the encouragement of the teacher and the specialness of the ceremony. Realizing I didn't want to be carried away by the wave of group fuzzies was the start of my drifting from the church.

And then the firm end to it all was when I left home and got away from the network of religious friends and family I grew up around and really saw how the church treats gay people and women and children.

  • Well, the sources are satisfying in that they disprove a lot of what you're saying. Venezuela was declined once while most of the time observers were sent. And you were unable to find sources for Russia at all.

  • I have his stuff in my feed all the time and I don't know why. Never watched it. Never watched pimple poppers or car detailers or pulling the film off new electronics or any of that content designed to give a rush from cleaning some gross or dirty things up.

    Tell me why, Algorithm!?!?

  • I've only used Yubikey when work mandated them for a while. Didn't last long until they moved to a push-to-phone-app system instead. It was fine, just irritating to carry around one more physical thing.

And I prefer a smartphone based app in personal life. I use Authy, keeping my backup codes in several safe locations and separate from where I keep password vault backups.

There's probably some super duper FOSS alt to Authy but I haven't spent the time to look for it.

  • Oh, interesting. Is OP actually a bot?

I assumed it was a Russian user spreading misinformation. Maybe the weak grasp on English is an AI thing instead of non-native speaker thing in this case. It got me.

  • Sure, I would love to see those sources if you find them. Venezuela and Russia, if you would.

  • "We" meaning the US?

Which country is asking us to send observers and we're saying no?

  • The Passion of the Christ. I was very confused that people thought it was a good film. And in my specific case, confused about why my school thought it was a good idea to take a bunch of minors to see a very gory R-rated film. That was the most violent movie I had seen up to that point. The whole experience was surreal, and not in a good way.

  • Boost. I used Boost for Reddit, so this app for Lemmy feels very familiar.

I like how few taps it takes to switch accounts. I like how I can set my default feed and sort and it sticks where some other lemmy apps I tried frequently reset to a trending feed, gross.

I like the feature that allows me to apply a custom tag to users that only I can see. I use it to keep an eye on potential trolls. If I have a person tagged as "MAGA troll", I know not to engage with them but to grab the popcorn and enjoy the ride.

  • Body wash and long hair shampoo plus conditioner takes me 10 minutes, full shaving routine takes me another 10. Yes, I listen to music through a bluetooth speaker. Yes, the quality is what one would expect from an inexpensive speaker the size of a soda can.

No, I don't blare music when people are sleeping.

I benefit from it as much as I do from listening to music at any other time? It's entertainment.

  • Zero. I don't have a browser open, just a phone app.

  • What is age confusion? And at what age can one expect to think that murdering multiple children and adults is ok?

So far I've gone from baby all the way to middle age without ever thinking I should murder multiple people. I would even go so far as to say the vast majority of people make it through all ages without murdering.

  • Start thinking about those around me having the most bizarre sex I can think of. If they are going to invade my privacy, I'm going to make them regret it.

  • I keep my vault password in fireproof containers in two separate off-site locations. And I use BitWarden, which has an emergency access process. I would assume many other vaults do too.

2FA backups are also stored in locations separate from where I have the vault password.

I also backup my vault a few times a year and keep those encrypted in another digital location.

  • I despise jokes about how much a person hates the opposite gender and their spouse specifically.

It's not a good self-deprecating joke, it's just sad. Get a divorce or break up already. You don't have to be trapped in a miserable relationship. And if you hate the opposite gender so much, consider whether you might be queer.

  • I didn't even read the whole thing, TBH. It's been a while, I'll have to see if I still have access via the link he sent me. That's even more blatantly sleezy than I was thinking. If he actually managed to build any sort of following, they might be interested to see what he attempts to put in his NDAs.

Gross. Well today is a "losing hope in humanity" kind of day.

  • I didn't sign for a weird thing.

I was going to go on a first date when the guy asked me to sign an NDA. He was attempting to be a content creator on YouTube, tiktok, etc., and thought he needed to start "protecting his reputation". I declined the date.
