  • I agree with this. I ride motorcycles and drive cars and I want both to blend in as much as possible. I don't need Karen calling the police and saying "Some jerk was driving too fast, I think his license plate said BUTTSTUFF"

It's the same reason I keep my exhausts quiet. I don't want every person (and cop) within a half mile radius to be alerted every time I use the throttle a little more than I'm supposed to.

  • Is there a good guide out there on how this would work? I tried to host my Plex server at a friend's house while I am traveling but his ISP uses cgnat and the router wouldn't let me do any sort of port forwarding so I gave up and now my family is bugging me about when Plex will be running again.

I'd also like to move beyond just forwarding ports to the internet because I know it's a security vulnerability. I got everything to work correctly and I wasn't worried about someone gaining access to my Plex server, but I'd like to do things the right way.

  • I'd be totally OK with some of the songs from SDV making an appearance in the new game. SDV's music was so relaxing and it fit the game perfectly.

  • So many empty containers but yet I still have a compulsive need to check each and every one.

I may be a loot goblin but my party has about 1300 spare camp supplies in Act 1 on tactician mode so I've got that going for me which is good.

  • I have a KTM 500 EXC-F. It comes from the dealer in street legal trim with a license plate for all 50 states.

The size of the engine doesn't necessarily indicate how much power a bike has as you may be aware from your experience with street bikes. A Honda CRF 300L is much more tame than a KTM 350 EXC-F even though they have similar engine sizes (think about the power difference between a 1000cc crotch rocket and a cruiser which might have a 1200cc engine that makes significantly less power).

The KTM 500 has more power than I can realistically use in the dirt but I like having that much power available for when I on the street. It can easily cruise at 75-80mph and can go triple digits if needed while my wife's Honda CRF 300L tops out around 70-75mph.

The trade offs between the KTM and the Honda are performance, price, and maintenance. The KTM makes about double the horsepower of the Honda and weighs about 70lbs less. The KTM cost about double what the Honda cost. I change my oil every 500ish miles on the KTM while her oil changes are every 8000 miles.

The 300L or an older 250L will be a great starter bike but you might wish it was a little lighter on the trails and that it had a bit more power on the road.

Other street legal options off the top of my head:

    Kawasaki KLX 300 Suzuki DRZ-400 Yamaha WR250R

There are certainty other options as well (KLR650, DR650, etc but they're heavy) and there are also ADV bikes which can go off road if you can handle the weight.

  • I'm not who you're replying to, but I think they're both fun in different ways. I have been enjoying dirt biking quite a bit more lately though because a proper dirt bike weighs nothing and goes anywhere. You don't get stuck in traffic, you don't have to sit at red lights, and you won't get pancaked by a texting driver.

Power to weight ratio isn't on part with sport bikes, but a dirt bike still feels fast. My 500cc 4-stroke bike makes almost 50hp (guesstimating) and only weighs about 250lbs (also guesstimating).

Most dirt bikes are very simple machines which means there's not a lot that can go wrong and when it does it's easy to fix.

Maintenance is typically more frequent, but also very easy due to being single cylinder engines.

Edit: Fuel economy is off the charts too. I can ride an OHV park all day and only spend maybe 5-10 bucks on gas.

  • How do I keep the bug? I like the horniness! There should be a switch in the options to enable extra horny.

  • I like motorcycles and assholes, I have a hard time not going back to reddit.

  • That's interesting, I never knew the story behind that song. Personally I always liked it but I like just about every Metallica song.

  • Yup I don't want Trump supporters to be the only ones who are armed if the shit hits the fan.

  • Thanks for sharing this article. We're all at the mercy of the rich and powerful.

  • I'm definitely not praising Musk, I'm just saying that I've been really happy with my Starlink dish. I don't like that I'm supporting him financially in this small way but it fits my needs too well.

  • I can't stand him but Starlink is so fucking awesome. Having high speed internet fucking everywhere is a game changer.

  • I've been enjoying BG3 quite a bit but I actually feel like DOS2 is more accessible as someone who has never played D&D. All the modifiers and weapon proficiencies and armor class things are really confusing to me as a noob. This complexity adds a ton of depth to the game but I feel like combat in DOS2 was more straightforward and I think I like it more.

Still haven't gotten out of act 1 in BG3 yet so my opinion may change as I get more familiar with it.

  • Look at my username and you'll have my answer.

  • This is a really good writeup, thanks for sharing.

I've been gaming on Ubuntu in some capacity since 2007ish and it's so easy to do now without having to manage wine versions and prefixes and mono versions, etc.

  • This happens to me in the web UI too so maybe it's not a problem with the app?

    I've noticed it on lemmy.world, lemmynsfw.com, and lemm.ee.

  • I hate loud motorcycles too but electric motorcycles aren't ready for mass adoption yet. Nothing electric on the market today has great range and if you're out in the sticks where it's fun to ride there usually aren't many EV chargers. I will 100% jump on an electric motorcycle as soon as the range and charger availability meets my needs but we're just not there yet. I agree with you 100% on the noise though. A certain subset of riders need to stroke their egos by making loud noise and it makes all riders look bad.

  • I'm a motorcyclist and that argument is fucking stupid (not you specifically). If you're drowning out nearby conversation just so you feel safe when you ride a motorcycle maybe you shouldn't be riding.

Again this isn't a personal attack on you, I just hate that i get lumped in with the loud pipe mouth breathers when I've ridden 200,000 miles on a quiet motorcycle without getting turned into road pizza.
