  • At this point, think of the old "boiling the frog" fable.

For now it's warnings with an easy skip button. Next they remove the skip button and probably add in more mid-video checks, but if you find a way to work around that the video still plays. Finally if they think you are using ad-blocking, no video at all. Then it's a cat-and-mouse game between the anti-adblock tech and the anti-anti-adblock tech.

The end result of this, and the ads, and the premium options, is money and data (that they can use to make more money).

  • If you are going to use your desktop, I would suggest putting all of the self-hosted services into a VM.

This means if you decide you do want to move it over to dedicated hardware later on, you just migrate the VM to the new host.

This is how I started out before I had a dedicated server box (refurb office PC repurposed to a hypervisor).

Then host whatever/however you want to on the VM.

  • A sane firewall configuration should have no/minimal impact on a desktop focused OS.

On the other hand, sometimes programs are really badly made and expect stupid things like there being no firewall.

You should have one yes, but to each their own.

I manage a bunch of windows computers and regularly make adding firewall rules part of install scripts, good example: Dreamweaver.

  • Undies

  • Don't be part of the problem. Be part of the solution! Start shopping for underwear at Victoria's Secret, Honey Birdette, etc.

The only downside is occasionally not being sure who's underwear is who's. Also it might not fit guys as well, but that can be excused for the extra style.

  • The ad on the left is for gaming products, but the picture is for a hair eraser/exfoliator. The joke is that gamers are all uWu femboys.

I mean, a lot of us probably are, but there's going to be a few that are outliers.

Then again, I like my legs being hair free, especially during summer, makes me feel cooler (but only temperature wise, I'm as awkward as all hell otherwise)

  • Most schools track a students "publishing permission" or similar, basically a checkbox in their systems that says if a student/their parents have consented to allow pictures of the student to be published by the school. It could be that your parents did not opt out, or did opt to allow publishing pictures of you.

You should check with your parents and the school. If you're afraid of retaliation and don't want to check, there's really nothing else to be done.

  • NSFW and NSFL can mean different things to different people and cultures.

Best example is that in some countries, showing a boob isn't straight away NSFW as much as it is in America.

Opposite example: In America, showing blood is almost G rated at this point (at least it feels that way to a non-American watching American media). In China you effectively can't show blood in any media.

As has been mentioned in the comments already one solution would be more specific categories, probably customizable by site admins to suit their particular site culture. Either that or a site can stick to just a single NSFW tag to donate a more "hey, this might not be the best thing to look at".
