Two years is nothing. It's literally a pittance in order to silence to plebs.
My data got stolen from the DOD in 2015, and I still have identity theft protection from it, and STILL have issues pop up every year. Without the last 8 years of protection, I'd be completely fucked.
Are we talking a world war, or just a war somewhere in the world?
Because one of those things we won't have a choice over. I can not want a war while still preparing for one.
I don't believe the US would be left alone in a world War, simple from all the shit we stuck our noses in in the 50s-90s, to say nothing of the last 23 years.
Imagine if some proud boys from the US were attacking Canadian civilians, after Canada has been occasionally striking the US and being quite excessive in its use of force.
Then one day Mexico warns Canada that the proud boys might strike this location this week, so Canada pulls its security and guards, the proud boys attack, Canada loudly yells to everyone in the world "OH NO CANADA IS ATTACKING ME DO YOU GUYS SEE THIS SHIT?"
And then Canada proceeds to bomb the absolute fuck out of EVERY city within 10 miles of the border. And then the refugees that are leaving the cities. And then telling them "hey we promise we won't bomb you if you go this route" and then bomb that route. And sends troops into refugee camps in order to decide who is suddenly a proud boy...
The world, as usual when it comes to Israel though, completely loses its minds.
It's like everyone is so afraid of being seen as a nazi, they won't aim even the tiniest criticism toward a government/military. It strikes me as profoundly racist to conflate every Jewish person with the government of Israel, or that somehow Israel represents all jews. Imagine if I suggested Kenya speaks for all black people...
For anyone still confused
Imagine the mafia boss being recorded saying "it would be a real shame in Vinny had himself an accident" and then that night one of the people who heard him say that broke vinny's neck.
The mafia boss didn't actually tell anyone to do anything. But the people around, knowing that's what he really wants, acted anyway.
"it's totally fine that you were all exposed to cyanide, it's nowhere near toxic levels! You're overreacting." - Some guy working for the people who exposed everyone to syanide
I urge all the people somehow disagreeing with the spirit of this statement to go ahead and drink some cyanide.
One state was gone in 3 hours, the next in about 5 MINUTES since it was just the tip, and the remaining 9 took me to the other side. Granted, at the time, the speed limit was 60 the entire way, and the vehicle was limited to 55 for the trailer.
She was absolutely between a rock and a hard place. You have a responsibility to get everyone home, but you can't just dive straight in and strong arm your way to get there as fast as possible, both because that's a shitty thing to do and because you'll likely face consequences at the very least by starfleet when you get home, maybe by delta species who don't like what you're doing.
Honestly I don't know a single person who has a negative thing to say about Janeway, except maybe she was too restrained sometimes.
How many of the crew, especially the Maquis, had nothing to return to and could have settled on one of the worlds they encountered? That said it's a completely foreign society whose complications and nuances you couldn't possibly be able to comprehend in the few weeks Voyager is within range.
Seska? I'm not aware of a crew member with that name. There was a Cardassian spy on board one of the ships, but.... She's no longer a concern.
100% agree with Voyager. I think Picard would handle things with more restraint, and probably would have taken an additional few years to get home, but really it's "exploration... with a twist"
I don't know if we would have gotten protosalamander babies in tng, but then again we got sub rosa so....
Plus in keeping with the metaphor of "stealing flowers left at scenes of wrecks", it's more like a towing company coming in to remove the vehicles that crashed, but waiting a long time to do it.
If this were a recent wreck, and not 110 years old, this discussion wouldn't even be taking place.
I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said, EXCEPT that they're not that different. I think most of the shows have a very unique tone, especially when you go from TNG to DS9, but unless I'm mistaken DS9 was intended to be "different".
Maybe a few of the new ones are pretty similar, that's for sure. But the older ones? Nah.
But I'm not looking for an echo of what I just said, so by all means if anyone wants to disagree with me, by all means! I don't get a chance to talk about trek outside of the internet and I'd love to hear other takes on them.
Edit: and only after posting did I realize you meant the FANS aren't that different, but you do go on to say the shows are pretty consistent so I'll leave this here.
